Why study English in Canada?

Pros

Quality Education

The quality of education and living standards in Canada are amongst the highest in the world,
Canada’s high academic standards and rigorous quality controls mean that you’ll be earning a high-
quality education that will open doors for your future and benefit your career over the long term.

Affordable tuition fees

First off, tuition fees in Canada are relatively affordable, when compared to other top study abroad
locations such as the U.S., Australia and the UK. Universities in Canada are able to set their own
fees, but international undergraduate students can expect fees to start at about CA$14,000 per year,
depending on the course and subject. International students may also be able to benefit from a range
of scholarships, grants and bursaries, as Canada is heavily invested in the future of its institutions’
graduates.

Four Distinct Seasons

One of the biggest advantages of living and studying in Canada is that you will get to experience the
full range of weather as you pass through the four seasons.

Winters will be cold and snowy. Spring will be muddy as the snow melts and you’ll literally be able to
smell the flowers growing and notice how each day lasts a little longer. Summer will be hot and green
with temperatures in the high 20’s to mid 30’s and Fall will feature an explosion of autumn colours.
You’ll have a great time hiking around and appreciating the magic of the leaves on the trees changing
colours to deep hues of red, orange, yellow and purple. Winter’s approach will be marked by darkness,
making your days shorter and you’ll notice a lack of animals that were abundant in the summer, as they
go into hibernation.

Again, if you come from a country where you don’t get to experience all four seasons, spending a year
in Canada will give you a new appreciation for the cycle of life and nature’s beauty and power.
disadvantages
● Largest cities like Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal have seriously high price
of living. The immigration just keeps rising the already huge prices for housing
and renting.

● Due to multiculturalism and the encouragement of immigration, the country

has a large number of people who use English as a second language. So,
probably as a student you will interact a lot with people who do not have an
advanced level of English.
● Rigid laws against sale of alcoholic beverages for minors (under -19) and
consumption of alcoholic beverages in public places.

● Downtown areas in big cities have become a focal point for homeless and
drug users.
● The temperature in Canada is brutal during winters, it goes upto -30°C
sometimes. And winters usually last around 6–8 months. Though the
temperature in Vancouver is better, the skies are always grey due to
excessive rains.
