Only for trainers – not distribute to student!
Introduction
This guide will give you the necessary infos for the good-use of the VDC and his support. The Virtual Data
Center is ready for VMware Virtual infrastructure 3 and What’s new course.

1. VDC rules and support
You became your logins and password for the Citrix connection peer mail the week before the VMware
course.
If you have any problems or questions before or during the course, you can contact the support peer phone

The classrooms and VDC support, will be available all days 7 a.m. until 6 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday be
expected.
If requested to have differing times, please consider that option was booked. In case you need support after
the standard availability, please go in touch with the support team.
With information mail we ask to confirm the parameters, in case we don´t received any answer until
Friday we will prepare the classroom using by default.
a. Preparation before training starts
First Stepp, please validate the WAN connection of your partner to be sure that the banwidth is sufficient to
have good performance during the class. please see the chapter „Citrix connection, part 2 – connection testing“.
Before using the classroom, you must verify the date validity of the VMware license that you need into the
course. For more information please see the chapter „Citrix connection, part 3 – explorer tools“.
The default ESX version who´s deployed is the 3.0.1. If you need another version, contact the
support at time. You will find 2 versions of VM console in your share.
All vc´s have an access to the internet trough a proxy. The Navigator was pre-configured and not
modifiable.
b. Cleanup after training
At the end of the classroom you has to erase all data where was stored at the shared LUNs Vmotion
and Templates through the class. please see the chapter „VMware Classrooms, part 3“.
Remark:
It’s very important, for support reasons, that you send information concerning quality of connection during
your course.
If you add some files (ex: ISO, private data…) except vmware licence, you must delete them!

2. Citrix connection
a. VDC access
To connect the VDC please use this link: http://csg-vdc.magirus.com
For Citrix user, see the part “b. Citrix / SQL /RSA user, in chapter 3”
When you see, in Message Center, the Citrix client available, you must install it.
Click near the yellow link and follow the instructions. Very easy operation.
When you’ve installed the client, no message will appear in the message center display.
b. Testing bandwidth
For testing the connection: http://csg-vdc.magirus.com/test
This tool is useful to test the bandwidth between conference centers

to the VDC.
If you have any questions about the result value, don’t hesitate to
contact the VDC support.

c. Instructor interface
The Instructor interface can be split in four categories
Management interface
Desktop and Explorer are helpful tools to see the classroom

infrastructure and copy files on the VDC. Form more information’s
seethe part “e. Files transfer, in chapter 2”
MS Terminal Server Clients
Terminal Server Client of all Students and for the Trainer are
represented in this interface. The students use this tool to connect
to hitch virtual center. The trainer can connect to his virtual machine
to demonstrate VMware product to the student or configure the
classroom.
RSA links
Terminal Server, RSA2 and MUI will be the same for 2 users
although the account was different, but for RAS just one of the two
students can open this links at a time
RSA 2 of all servers (x336) from the Classroom (include yours:
esx0t-vdc or esx1t-vdc)
Citrix interface for trainer only: esx0t-vdc and esx1t-vdc.

Note that the student will only see their Applications
The student need the tree applications for the “What’s

new” course, but just MS Terminal Server Client and RSA
for the “Virtual Infrastructure 3”

e. Files transfer
You must use the explorer application to copy the

vmware licences on the VDC network share
mapping
To do this, you need to use the “Explorer” icon.

Your local drives are mapped here so you can
drag and drop your licence or other files in the
share directory (mapped as H).
Don’t forget to delete your private file or data at

the end of the classroom

directory the VMware tools and license.
