PART #2

How will you advise and monitor your swimmers nutrition and hydration within
your 21 day plan, at the competition and then after the competition?
Before Competition:
Athletes have been previously given information regarding nutrition and hydration through
printed material and other on the website. Coaches will continue to monitor athletes by
checking to see (verbally) with them and their parents/guardians on a regular basis how
they are handling their sleeping, eating, and basic hydration habits. If required: suggestions,
reminders and possible changes may be provided.
During Competition:
At the start of the warm-up, Coach will check to see that athletes have remembered to bring
their water bottles and remind them not to share them. Coach will also check that athletes
have adequate and appropriate snack material in place while at the competition. Coach will
remind them to eat healthy!

After Competition:
During the first team meeting shortly after the competition, athletes will receive the coach’s
observations with what went well and what could be improved on with suggestions.
Reminders to carry on with healthy eating and hydration habits. Feedback from athletes and
parents/guardians would also be taken with suggestions for healthy eating and hydration
support.
