What role is given to forensic accountants?
Forensic accounting is art and science for investigating people and money. As a future
researcher it would be great to discover more on what forensic accounting could offer in this
field. I think that our country, Philippines is in need of this field of accounting because there are
many cases of fraud, embezzlement and other crimes that involves money, I also think that if
accountants are well aware of this field maybe there would be less of the said crimes in our
country. This topic is worth researching for because it can help be an awareness for the
accounting profession as well as the people that needs help regarding this topic. I am also curious
and really interested in this topic because I think that it would be a challenging and adventurous
topic to study.
Environmental Accounting
Environment is everything around us, living or not, it can be the air we breathe, water, or
animals and all the other things in our surroundings, while Environmental Accounting is a field
where it measures and communicates the costs enforced by pollution. I think that this topic is
worth researching for because the current state of our environment is definitely not good and I
think it is one good step in helping the world, I would like to study on how this field of accounting
could help the environment. I also want to raise awareness in the accounting profession and that
our country has a lot of natural resources and should not be wasted, and that we should help in
every way we can.
When cash becomes the thing of the past, what effect can it bring to the accounting
profession?
The technologies in this world are leading us to new questions and one of it is this topic;
credit cards, debit cards, and other forms of paying through technology is growing and those
would lead into not using physical form of cash then what could be the effect of it in this world
or in our country. As we all know we are really having a hard time catching up with the fast paced
technological changes, that is why I think this topic is worth researching for because we need to
know what is ought to happen and what could we possibly do if such situation would occur,
whether if our country would be able to keep up with this kind of situation or what are we
supposed to prepare in order to cope up.
A review of major accounting frauds in the past ten years and how ethical judgement could
have altered the course of the events.
Reviewing major accounting frauds is worth researching for because from those events we
would be able to overlook what and how it went wrong, and I think that in studying this topic it
would help accountants to deeply understand on how to handle difficult situations, and to handle
it with ethical judgement, it is also a good topic to study on because the accounting profession
will not just understand how to handle such situations there is also possibility in preventing such
events to happen. I also think that forensic accounting is the field in this kind of situations and
such field has a possibility to improve if this research would be conducted.
The impact of increasing number of Accounting graduates in the Philippines
Usually in an accounting course there are a lot of enrollees and end up with a small
number of graduates and still when accumulated accounting graduates nationwide is increasing,
and I think it is worthy to study this topic in order to properly know what would be the effect of
the increasing number of accountants. Is it beneficial or not in the profession and in the economy,
if so what proposed plans could be offered in such situation? I also think that in studying this
topic I would be able to help the accounting profession in the Philippines to discover ways to
cope with the increasing number of accounting graduates and to properly introduce the wide-
variety of fields that we the accounting profession have.
