CHAPTER 2

SCHOOL CURRENT SITUATION

After a thorough assessment and evaluation of the school and community

data that were gathered and organized, the SPT has come up with a clear description
of the school’s current situation. Priority improvement areas on access, quality and
governance were identified from these data that need immediate intervention by the
school.

Based on the data above, there is a decreasing number of students who
are absent in class for the 3 consecutive school years. This is due to several
interventions done by the school like home visitations, adopt a school program
and other school’s-initiated interventions.
Student’s absenteeism is due to some reasons like helping parents to work
and earn a living, health problems and other seasonal circumstances-related.
The decreasing data above still alarm the school for continuous
interventions for the improvement of its performance.

The above data reveal that in school year 2017-2018, there is a higher
number of students who are considered tardy. This is because some of the
students are coming from far barangays of the municipality. They have
difficulty in coming to school early specially during heavy rains. Some of them
even spent their time walking coming to school.

12
The dropout rate of the school for SY 2018-2019 is 1.52% or 29 out of
1,906 enrollees as compared to the dropout rate of SY 2017-2018 which is
1.69% or 30 out of 1,774 enrollees, and of SY 2016-2017 which is 2.1 or 32
out of 1,537 enrollees. The data indicate an increasing percentage of the
school’s dropouts. The most pressing cause is Individual-Related Factor.

The data above reveal that there is an increasing average of

attendance for the 3 consecutive school years. This increasing attendance is
due to the school intervention programs such as giving incentives to identified
classes with highest attendance, additional incentives to students who earn
the highest attendance. The class incentive serves as a class project. There
is also a close monitoring of students’ attendance specially to 4P’s recipients.

From SY 2016-2017 and SY 2017-2018 the number of male enrollees

increased from 755 to 870 then to 937, and the number of female enrollees
increased from 782 to 904 then to 969. This can be attributed to Balik-aral
Program of the school.
