What is Responsible pet ownership?

>A pet is a lifetime commitment
- Care for the pet for the remainder of the pet's life:
in sickness and in health,
for better or for worse.
>Provide the following basic needs
- Get the proper nutrition (food & water)
- Clean, comfortable and secure home (not exposed to the heat or rain)
>Provide the following basic needs:
- Regular medical care(updated vaccinations, regular check up
and brings pet for treatment if sick or injured.)
-Address their pet's physical, social, emotional and mental well-being
under this is daily enrichment and exercise (play, socialization, training)
>Spay/neuter pets to avoid unwanted pregnancies
- Keep pets to a number that he/she can provide for
>Abide by the responsibilities of a pet owner under RA9482
>Does not abandon its pet or ask an animal welfare organization to "adopt"
their pet for any reason, but instead he/she will look into and exhaust prudent,
compassoinate measures (without rushing) to rehome their pet if absolute necessary.

What is Spaying/Neutering
> "Kapon" or "fixed"
> A routine surgical remove
> Humane population control for stray dogs/cats, which would facilitate the control
of diseases that may be transmitted to humans (such as rabies, scabies etc.)
> Prevention of pyometra (infection in the uterus)

What is responsible feeding?

> Feral/ wild cats or formerly-owned cats only go to places where they have food
sources
("holding capacity")
> When they are fed properly, they become healthy and fertile and cat populations
will
grow in your area.
> Hence, if you decide to feed tray cats, you must have them spayed/neutered.
> Once you have befriended the cat, prepare a cat trap or have the cat get used to
eating
in a large cage so they can be trapped and be spayed/neutered

TRAP-NEUTER-RETURN (TNR)
>the most effective and humane way of controlling the population of feral cats
in an area/community.
> No additional unwanted kittens born.
>Spayed/neutered cats will guard their territory and "food source"- outside cats
will not be able to settle in the community.
