1.

First degree burn - caused by contact with things such as heat, radiation, or
chemicals. Only affects the outermost layer of the skin (epidermis)

2. Second degree burn – caused by very hot water, open flames, hot objects, sun,
chemicals, or electricity
3. Third degree burn - caused by the following a scalding liquid, skin that comes in
contact with hot object for an extended period of time, flames from a fire, an
electrical source, and a chemical source

4. Basal Cell Carcinoma - caused by repeated and unprotected skin exposure


to ultraviolet (UV) rays from sunlight, as well as from man-made sources such as
tanning beds.

5. Malignant Melanoma – caused by Excess oil production, Hair follicles clogged by oil
and dead skin cells, Bacteria, and Excess activity of a type of hormone
(androgens)
6. Athlete’s Foot - you can catch the fungus through direct contact with an infected
person, or by touching surfaces contaminated with the fungus. The fungus
thrives in warm, moist environments. It’s commonly found in showers, on locker
room floors, and around swimming pools
7. Boils and Carbuncles – caused by bacterial infection

8. Cold sores - caused by herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1). This virus is passed
from person to person by saliva (either directly, or by drinking from the same
glass or cup) or by skin contact.
9. Contact Dermatitis - caused by a substance you're exposed to that irritates your
skin or triggers an allergic reaction. The substance could be one of thousands of
known allergens and irritants

10. Impetigo - caused by Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The infection isn’t


usually serious, but sometimes complications may develop.
a. Staph infections may cause disease due to direct infection or due to the
production of toxins by the bacteria. Boils, impetigo, food poisoning,
cellulitis, and toxic shock syndrome are all examples of diseases that can
be caused by Staphylococcus.
