Cooling Towers of Ejector Type – simple and efficient.

Ejection cooling towers use the ejection effect - they create cooling air flows in the heat exchange zone
due to the energy of the coolant flow itself.

Effectiveness of the ejector type cooling tower is determined by the following two factors:

1. The design of the jet-vortex nozzle.

2. The method of the nozzle placement in the volume of the cooling tower.

We have developed a jet-vortex nozzle that creates the structure of a water torch in the form of a hollow
cone consisting of a multitude of vortical jets. As a result, high ejection coefficients (up to 1000) with a
use of relatively low pressure (0.1–0.2 MPa) were obtained.

To eliminate reverse vortex air flow, each nozzle is enclosed in a cylindrical or slit-like structure – an
ejection unit.

The ejection units are located in the lower part of the cooling tower in groups consisting of several pieces
with the orientation of the water torch from bottom to top. In the upper part, the water flows are getting
mixed and intensive heat exchange with incoming cold air masses occurs.

The placement of the ejection units is calculated in the way to ensure efficient heat transfer utilizing entire
volume of the cooling tower.

As of today, the cooling towers we have designed are close to fan-driven in efficiency, but do not require
high operating costs (in fan cooling towers, the cost of electricity for the fan drive) and feature easier
maintenance procedures. Repairs can be carried out without stopping the operation of the cooling tower.
We have developed standard solutions for the reconstruction of existing fan cooling towers (dismantling
the fan with minimal design changes) and improving the efficiency of tower-type cooling structures
(installing additional ejection units in the low active zone of the cooling tower, providing additional
cooling air flow).
