FILM EDIT WRITE-UP

TV HOSPITAL DRAMA
In this edit, I added a rolling title at the beginning of the clip to introduce the viewers to the clip.
When adding the rolling title, I tried out different positions that I could insert the text in, and
whether those places were appropriate or not.
TV HOSPITAL DRAMA
In the intro of the clip, I added a slow motion zoom of the hospital building followed by a fade to
the doctor walking to the patients room. This introduces the viewers to the hospital and then
proceeds to follow the doctor into the patients room. By adding the slow zoom in of the hospital
building, it welcomes the viewers inside the hospital like they were walking inside it.
ACTION – CAR CHASE EDIT
For this edit, I changed the shots very often to show
the driver and the car from the outside. Making the
clips change often creates an intense mood which is
what I am trying to achieve as she is being chased by
police, I wanted the audience to also feel intense. This
also makes the clip less boring as there is more than
one perspective. I also began the clip with the driver
adjusting her gear lever like she is about to start her
car, to show the sudden change in the speed as she is
being chased.
Adding the sounds in the background had to match
the clips, for example, the sound of the acceleration of
the car should match with the video of the camera
inside the car. However, the music going over
everything was layered over everything else, so it
plays throughout the whole video without any pauses
unless necessary.
HORROR
As the genre of this clip is horror, I colour corrected it and gave it a
more blue coloured tone to make the entire scene seem cold and
eerie. I think this added effect to the clips as it added a more
mysterious atmosphere. I dragged the colour wheel arrow towards
the blue colour which changed the tone of the clip I selected.
An example of a film that has had a blue tone is Twilight, where
the story is about vampires, and the blue tint in the first film
makes it feel cold and the characters more pale. However, in the
next movie the tint changes to a warmer orange colour, which may
symbolise the closeness of everyone's bonds.
Here I added a point of view angle of
the girl where the person has an axe
and tries to kill her, but just before
the axe hits her, the camera is
switched and facing the girl but at a
slight angle. Not showing the weapon
when it hits the girl adds a mysterious
ending to it but creates an impact on
the viewers as they do not know
whether it had actually hit the girl or
not. The short clip afterwards shows
the girl screaming before it is abruptly
cut to a scene where she wakes up,
showing the audience that she was
dreaming the whole time.
ACTION MATCH
In this scene where the girl is trying to run away from the
person killing her, she runs to a door where the camera is
zoomed into her hands reaching for the doorknob and
trying to open it. She does this in a very nervous and quick
way which tells the audience that she is very eager and
desperate to try and escape. However the door doesn’t
work and then the camera is on the other side of the door,
showing her tapping on the window in a desperate manner.
With the effect of the way the camera is on the side of the
door that the girl wants to get to, the audience may feel
sympathetic for the girl as the viewers themselves are on
the other side with the girl desperately trying to get to the
other side, making her feel trapped and the only way for her
is to go back in the other direction where the person trying
to attack her.
SCI-FI MONTAGE EDIT
For this Sci-Fi montage, I added the series of clips in what
seems like a chronological order, starting from outer space
with cinematic shots of the planet to animals on Earth. This
can make the audience think they are in outer spacer and
slowly making their way to Earth throughout the montage.
MUSIC VIDEO EDIT
For the music video I dragged the entire audio of the clip
onto the sequence, which can prevent awkward cuts if I
were to cut the separate clips and put them together
