Position Title: Armenian Volunteer Corps Program Assistant

Reports to: AVC Executive Director


Position type: Full-time, permanent
Start Date: Immediate/no later than September 30

A successful Program Assistant and Job Placement Lead is someone interested in and excited to join a growing
organization whose mission is to serve Armenia through international volunteers and to promote Armenia
internationally as a volunteering/internship/travel abroad destination. This person needs to have excellent verbal
and written communication skills, be highly organized, detail oriented, and be an energetic, creative, flexible
individual who is interested in recruitment as well as managing and developing well-run volunteer programs.

Responsibilities include:

 Placing each volunteer in appropriate volunteer site(s) based on his/her background/experience and
volunteer sites’ needs; researching new jobsites as needed;
 Maintaining regular contact with: - volunteers during their placement in order to monitor, assess and
evaluate the volunteer work experience; - and volunteer sites especially during an active placement to
monitor and evaluate the experience, via telephone and unscheduled site visits;
 Troubleshooting with AVC Director and AVC Program Coordinator any volunteer and/or jobsite-related
challenges;
 Assisting placement partners to develop professional volunteer opportunities with clear tasks, deliverables
and benchmarks for Professional Corps program;
 Ensuring that the volunteer information in the database is always correct and up-to-date;
 Assisting with: AVC recruitment efforts via research and outreach, special projects, activities, new initiatives,
or community service projects, as needed;
 Working collaboratively with AVC team to expand Professional Corps and Volunteer Corps, including
researching and developing new thematic volunteering opportunities (eg. sector specific service tours,
university service projects);
 Tracking and assessing work accomplished via monthly, quarterly and year-end reporting with a view to
implementing improvements as needed;
 Engaging in other tasks as requested by Executive Director and Program Coordinator.

Requirements:

 Attention to detail and systems, and excellent data entry and computer skills are necessary;
 Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google docs, effective internet
research;
 Excellent English, Armenian and Russian required; knowledge of additional languages is a plus;
 Excellent verbal, written and oral communications skills;
 A focused and organized self-starter with excellent time management skills; ability to prioritize is a must;
 Strong administrative skills, with ability to multi-task multiple priorities and activities simultaneously;
 Must be a creative and resourceful problem solver and be able to independently identify and troubleshoot
operational challenges;
 Strong team orientation, interpersonal skills, judgment and ability to work effectively in collaboration with
diverse groups of people (diverse ethnicities, backgrounds and ages);
 Demonstrate flexibility and a positive outlook, and understand the value of great service
 Master’s Degree preferred with at least one-two years professional work experience.
