Incorporation and Processing Instructions

These additives can be incorporated during any stage of the production process including post-addition.
To facilitate incorporation (especially with BYK-302 and BYK-331), it may be helpful to reduce the additives with suitable
solvent(s).

Function
These additives provide a medium reduction of the surface tension of paint systems.
They increase surface slip as well as improve leveling and gloss. Silicone additives prevent formation of Bénard cells. These addi-
tives also improve substrate wetting and give anti-blocking properties.

Special Features and Benefits

BYK-300 Standard surface additive in the coatings industry for all solvent-borne systems.

Active substance identical to that of BYK-300. Due to the solvent used (butyl glycol), particularly suitable for
BYK-301
aqueous coatings.

Solvent-free version of BYK-300. Especially used in systems in which solvent-free additives are requested or
BYK-302
where a requirement for a special solvent exists.

BYK-331 is used in all solvent-borne, solvent-free and aqueous coatings. In two-component polyurethane
BYK-331
systems, it can also be added to the isocyanate hardener.

is stable to hydrolysis and

• increases the surface slip.
• can be added to isocyanate hardeners.
BYK-332 • reduces the spraydust and dirt sensitivity.
• improves leveling (long wave).
• prevents the formation of Bénard cells.
• improves the wetting-up of the surface.

BYK-335 BYK-335 displays similar properties as BYK-300. It is used in all coating systems as surface additive.

Special Note
In comparison to silicone oils these additives are „user friendly“. Through a series of tests, however, it should be ascertained as
to whether foam is being stabilized by these additives before large-scale application starts. Also, the recoatability and cratering
should be evaluated.
