For cooling system fan and A/C condenser fan fuses and relays, see fuse/relay box at the left side of engine
compartment. See Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 .

COOLING SYSTEM FAN RELAY

1. Disconnect negative battery cable.

2. Remove cooling system fan relay from engine compartment fuse/relay box. See Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 .
3. Test fan relay continuity with an ohmmeter. See Fig. 4 . See FAN MOTOR RELAY CONTINUITY
table.

FAN MOTOR RELAY CONTINUITY

Terminals No. Continuity
30 & 87 No
85 & 86 Yes

4. Apply 12 volts to terminal No. 86 and ground terminal No. 85. Test for continuity between terminals No.
30 and 87.
5. If there is no continuity, replace fan relay.

COOLING SYSTEM & A/C CONDENSER FAN MOTOR

1. Check the harness connector.

2. Test fan motor by disconnecting fan connector from wiring harness.
3. Apply a fused 12 volt source to either terminal of fan connector and ground the opposite terminal. See
Fig. 5 .
4. If fan is inoperative or has abnormal noises, repair or replace fan motor.

Removal

1. Disconnect negative battery cable.

2. Disconnecting fan motor connector from wiring harness.
3. Remove the fan assembly mounting bolts. See Fig. 6 .
4. Lift fan assembly from vehicle.
5. Remove the fan mounting clip and detach the fan from the fan motor.
6. Remove fan motor from shroud. See Fig. 7 .

Installation

1. Install fan motor into shroud. See Fig. 7 .

2. Install the fan onto the fan motor and attach the fan mounting clip.
3. Install fan assembly into vehicle.
4. Install and tighten fan assembly mounting bolts. See Fig. 8 .
5. Connect fan motor connector to wiring harness.
6. Connect negative battery cable.
