Prepositions of time: IN, ON and AT

"In," "on," and "at" are the most common prepositions of time.

1. "In" is used before spans of time, such as seconds, minutes, days, weeks,
months, seasons and years. "In" is also used for parts of the day.

We met in January.

We will visit you in the spring.

I visited France in 1977.

She goes home in the afternoon.

He will be home in a day or two.

2."On" is used before days and dates.

He will come on Tuesday.

She was born on Jan. 6, 1982.

3. "At" is used before precise times.

We will meet at 9:00.

I am leaving at 5:00.
