2. PRESENTACIÓN
SIMPLE PRESE TENCE
The simple present is a verb tense with two main uses. We use the simple present tense when an action is
happening right now, or when it happens regularly (or unceasingly, which is why it’s sometimes called present
indefinite). Depending on the person, the simple present tense is formed by using the root form or by adding
‑ s or ‑ es to the end.

PREPOSITION OF TIME

 times: at 8pm, at midnight, at 6:30


 holiday periods: at Christmas, at Easter
 at night
at  at the weekend
 at lunchtime, at dinnertime, at breakfast time

 days: on Monday, on my birthday, on Christmas Day


 days + morning / afternoon / evening / night: on Tuesday morning

ADVERBS
Adverbs tell how, how often, when, and where an action takes place. They can modify verbs, adjectives, and
other adverbs. Basically, adverbs help you to be a little more precise when describing.

Examples:
THE VERB "CAN"
 Use:
Can is a verb that is very often used in the English language.
We use it when we express that someone is able to do something:
EX :
 He can speak Spanish.; express that something is possible- ability
 Can I have some water, please?; ask for something-
 Can I go to the party tonight?; ask for or give permission:
 Can I help you?. ; offer to do something: Possibility

 Statements with can


The verb can always requires the infinitive form of the following verb:

Rule: Noun/pronoun + can + infinitive + ….

Can has only one form. It does not change with he, she, it:

I can
You can
He, She, It can
We can
You can
They can

 The "negative form" of can is can't or cannot:


 Questions with can
Remember that we ask a Yes/No Question using the verb "to be":
Rule: form of to be + noun/pronoun + …?
Ex: Are you tired?
The same rule applies for questions with the verb can: can + noun/pronoun + verb + …?

Ex :
 She can swim. Can she swim?
 I can help you. Can I help you?
 Anna can speak German. Can Anna speak German?

 Remember!
You need to add the infinitive after 'can'.
I can swim.
You can run fast.
She can ride a bike.
We can speak English.
They can play the guitar.
