[PREPOSITIONS OF TIME] In, On, At

“In” is used for months, years, centuries, and long periods.

Examples: In August, in summer, in the afternoon, in 2017, in the 1980s

“On” is used for days and dates.

Examples: on Sunday, on the 25th of December 2016, on the New Year’s Eve

“At” is used for precise times.

Examples: at 3 o’clock, at 10:30 a.m., at noon, at bedtime
