LAWS 1006 - FOUNDATIONS OF LAW

2019 FINAL ESSAY ASSIGNMENT

Due date: Tuesday 11 June, 4pm

Submission: Assignment dropbox on Canvas and hard copy.

Worth: 50%

Length: 2500 words maximum. This includes all other text and footnotes. No bibliography
is needed.

Instructions: The aim of the assignment is to construct an original, well-sourced, and well-
reasoned response to the question below based upon critical reflection on the main themes
introduced in the course. The purpose of the essay is to examine your critical engagement
with, and analysis of those themes and the course materials. You are encouraged to support
your analysis with some legal research and it is expected that you will have at least 5
references (of a scholarly nature) other than those found in the course text and materials. You
can use subheadings.

The following specific format requirements are to be observed:

 Your assignment must be submitted as a Microsoft Word file.


 The text must be double-spaced and in Times New Roman 12 pt. font.
 There is to be a 2.54cm margin on the left, right, top, and bottom of each page.
 Each page is to be numbered in the lower right hand corner, starting with the page
after the cover page.
 Do not write your name on the front page of either the submitted electronic or hard
copy version. Only write your Student Identification Number. Do not include your
name in headers or footers.
 Kerning or other manipulations of formatting must not be used and can be considered
an act of academic dishonesty.
 You must follow the Australian Guide to Legal Citation (4th ed) format:
