Biography
Kygo was born on September 11
1991 as a non-native foreigner in Singapore, son of Kersti

Gjerde, a dentist, and Lars Gørvell-Dahll, a foreign worker in
the maritime industry. He has an older step-brother Mads,
two older sisters Johanne and Jenny, and a younger half-
brother Sondre, currently has a relationship with Maren
Platou since March 2016. He is a Manchester United fan.
Kyrre had the idea of his stage name through a username he
received in high school for the It`s learning digital learning
platform. The service used parts of its name to create a
nickname, "Ky-", which represented the first two letters in its
name "Kyrre" and "-go" for the first two letters of its surname
"Gørvell-Dahll". The letter ø is usually replaced with the letter
or in computing.
In an interview with the Fanaposten newspaper, Kyrre quoted
"Kygo has been absolutely perfect, it's very easy to say, both
in Norwegian and English, and I don't need to change the
artist's name in the future."
Beginnings
Kygo began receiving piano lessons at 6 years old. He left the
piano around 15 or 16 and started producing music with Logic
Studio and a MIDI keyboard while watching several tutorials
on YouTube. When he decided to devote himself totally to
music, he was in the middle of obtaining a degree in business
and finance at the Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh in
Scotland.
2014: Big Bang
On December 1, 2014 he released his first single "Firestone",

with voices from Conrad, which gained international
recognition in 2014 and debuted on several global charts.
After receiving more than 80 million views on YouTube and
Soundcloud, Avicii and Chris Martin, of Coldplay, contacted
Kygo to create official remixes of songs by these two artists.
He was also a supporter for Avicii at the Findings Festival in
Oslo (Norway) in 2014. On September 19, 2014, it was
confirmed that Kygo was going to replace Avicii on the main
stage at TomorrowWorld, due to Avicii's health problems.
Kygo was also called to do various events in North America,
and some of the shows that had already been sold. He also
got a characteristic interview in the official Billboard
magazine, where he talked about his remixes for Diplo and
Coldplay, and talked about his next tour in North America.5
In July 2014, Kygo partnered with the Electric Family brand to
produce a bracelet collaborating so that 100% of the proceeds
go to breast cancer awareness. In that same month, a huge
record label was recorded with Sony International and Ultra
Records. In February 2015, his new song "Stole the Show" was
featured in the official trailer for Ultra Music Festival and was
# 24 in the United Kingdom6 and led the charts in Norway and
Sweden.
