About 300 kids and their parents enjoyed the festivity alongside sponsors, including Chooks-to-
Go. They gave away roasted chicken to the children and their families.
Founded by beauty industry icon Ricky Reyes, CHILD (Center for Health Improvement and Life
Development) Haus is located both in Quezon City and Manila. Its seven-story building in Manila
temporarily houses children undergoing cancer treatment in nearby hospitals.
Bounty Agro Ventures, Inc. (BAVI) and Chooks-to-Go are committed to aiding Filipinos who are
in need. They understand that charity causes a ripple of hope among people it touches.
On September 9 was they handed out 1,000 Chooks-to-Go gift certificates to public school
teachers in Initao, Misamis Oriental to thank teachers for their commitment to education. The
donation was done during the kick-off event for the National Teachers' Month at Initao General
Comprehensive High School.
Department of Education (DepEd) Undersecretary Tonisito Umali and Bounty Agro Ventures, Inc.
(BAVI) head of Mindanao operations Carlos Pelayo graced the event.
National Teachers Month will culminate with the World Teachers' Day celebration on October 5.
According to Pelayo, BAVI will again be part of the festivity, alongside DepEd Secretary Leonor
Briones, in Cagayan de Oro City.
BAVI is one of DepEd’s staunch partners in enhancing public education. We have participated in
their Brigada Eskwela and Adopt-a-School programs and donated 3,000 national flags to public
schools through the Maging Magiting campaign of Ayala Foundation in partnership with the
National Historical Commission of the Philippines.
Their president, Ronald Mascariñas, gave an inspiring message to participants of the
Philippine College of Poultry Practitioners (PCPP) convention at Marriott Hotel Manila, Pasay
City, September 6.
Mascariñas talked about the value of food quality standards by describing BAVI's 22 years in the
poultry industry. Together with sister company Bounty Fresh Foods, BAVI is the second largest
poultry integrator in the Philippines. It is also the country's largest chicken rotisserie company,
with over 1,600 retail stores nationwide.
"It was an honor giving a talk to the country’s finest veterinarians in the Philippine College of
Poultry Practitioners," said Mascariñas in his Facebook post. "These are the people who shape and
breathe life to the poultry industry. I hope they found inspiration from the story of BAVI. "

Mascariñas was recently awarded Distinguished Alumnus for Entrepreneurship and Employment
Creation by the UP Alumni Association. A high-tech lab for livestock genetic improvement at UP
Los Baños was also inaugurated in his honor last week.
With the theme, "Ensuring Healthy Poultry, People, and Community: A Shared Responsibility,"
the PCPP conference gathered hundreds of veterinarians and poultry professionals for two days of
learning about various industry issues.
They’ve been shortlisted for the Social Responsibility Award of the Investors in People
Awards 2019.
In particular, their advocacy for love of country – especially by supporting national 3x3 basketball
teams – was recognized by the renowned people management consulting group Investors in People
(IIP).
“Becoming a Finalist in the Social Responsibility category affirms the impact which our advocacy
for love of country has among Filipinos,” said BAVI President and General Manager Ronald
Mascariñas. “We are honored that our support for national athletes through our 3x3 tournaments
is now recognized internationally.”
In 2017, BAVI started supporting national athletes with the dream of fielding a team in the
Olympics. Today, through its Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3x3 basketball conferences and by sending
national teams to international conferences, the company is ever nearer to achieving that dream.
From being ranked 60th by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) at the start of the year,
their national 3x3 team is now ranked 28th.
BAVI currently holds a Gold Accreditation from IIP. According to Human Resources
Management Vice President Nedo Sasing, this accreditation means the company upholds ideals
and fosters practices that give “due importance to people as individuals who have inherent dignity
and potential.”
The IIP Awards ceremony will be held on November 19 in London.

Their management trainee (MT) from General Santos City Business Center was named
Rookie of the Year in the recently concluded Jet Ski Association of the Philippines (JSAP)
National Tours in Olongapo City, August 31.
Aside from being Rookie of the Year, 30-year-old John Jay Pontino was also declared national
champion in the Novice Stand-up Stock Class and 1st runner-up in the Amateur Stand-up Grand
Prix Class.
A national winner like his father in the 1990s, Pontino competed against 80 other jet ski racers
from all over the Philippines. The annual jet ski tournament had included legs in General Santos
City, Tacloban City, and Cavinti in Laguna from February to August.
Pontino started training for jet ski competitions in 2017. He said joining the competition amid his
frenetic schedule as MT was tough.

“I wanted people to know that work-life balance is possible,” he said. “We should not forget to
give importance to health and fitness even if we are busy at work.”
As MT, part of Pontino’s duties is making sure the stores under his care have good sales
performance and pass all store quality audits.
