School Coordinator/Principal
Andrew has immersed himself in the school and the school culture. From day one he has attended
professional development opportunities, parent interviews, staff meetings and faculty meetings.
He has professionally interacted with teachers, parents and student always showing a good
understanding of protocol, subject knowledge and the students themselves. He understands the
required professional ethics and responsibilities in and outside of the classroom.
Andrew fit seamlessly into the Performing Arts department showing initiative and passion for
drama. He quickly built respected relationships with the students through creating engaging
lessons and being well prepared. Andrew was an asset to the department during a busy run of
productions where he willingly gave up Sundays and after school hours helping to support the
productions. He has even committed to coming back after his placement to help with the final
productions. These extra commitments were greatly appreciated and his support for these events
showed his initiative, enjoyment and passion for teaching. Andrew has been a valued member of
the Performing Arts and English department and a professional and respected member of the St
John’s Grammar School staff.
University Liaison
Andrew readily adopted the norms and expectations of the school and quickly immersed himself in the
preparations for the school’s drama productions that involved a significant out of hours commitment.
His lessons were carefully planned and enthusiastically delivered with a variety of approaches to
support the range of student interest and ability. He interacted well with individual students and with
small groups, clarifying questions and encouraging new ideas as well as monitoring progress. He was
assertive when necessary but always positive and professional.
Andrew is to be congratulated on a very successful Professional experience.

Professional Knowledge
Andrew is organized and planned effectively for an inclusive program. He considered the
student’s with special needs and present clear documentation. He showed competence in
short term planning for small groups and for a whole class, identification of aims and was very
particular about time allocation. His unit designs demonstrated a clear sequence of lessons
moving towards the completion of a set assessment task. His professional knowledge is
sound.
Professional Practice
Andrew was able to plan lesson by lesson and create links between the learning in one class
and build to the next. He offered students conferencing and direct instruction utilising
individual/group/class work effectively. Andrew has demonstrated an ability to implement a
range of teaching skills such as motivation activities, non-verbal communication, negotiating
skills, questioning skills, giving clear instructions and providing feedback. He built professional
working relationships and displayed effective behaviour management.
Professional Engagement
Andrew was able to observe a Performing Arts faculty at a busy time with courses being
taught at various year levels, choirs, bands and group productions in rehearsal. He was
actively involved teaching Yr 7,8,10 & 12 Drama where he showed initiative and
adaptability. Andrew was reliable, punctual and well presented. He has a warm and friendly
manner and displayed a real interest in developing his teaching. Andrew also attended an
evening performances and Sunday rehearsals for the various Drama productions.
