• Single submission per team.

• Each team submission should have a Functional Specification


document. Functional spec (max 1750 words) should contain
o Problem Definition (approximately 400 words – focus on why – problem,
customer value, business value)
o Goals & Non-goals (approximately 200 words – focus on what – requirements
& user scenarios that you aim to solve/not solve)
o Feature description (approximately 900 words – focus on how – features
leading to solutions for user scenarios)
o Success Metrics (approximately 200 words – how to evaluate success for the
features planned and the overall product)
o Workflow (max 1 page (2 slides) – UX design, flow charts etc.)

• PM Challenge starts today. Deadline for submission is


mentioned in the introduction email.
Case Challenge
It is estimated that there are 4.4 billion people on the internet today. Out of all the internet products, very few
have the kind of reach that email has, with there being an estimated 3.7 billion email users. While email is
traditionally thought of as the preferred mode of communication in the business space, free personal email still
dominates the overall email market in terms of the number of users. While personal email has a large customer
base, customers tend to be more engaged on modern communication platforms that centre around social
media and chat. This shift in the preferred mode of communication has affected the quality of communication
occurring on personal email and has relegated email to smaller use cases like establishing identity on the
internet and serving as a repository for archived information.
Microsoft offers a free personal email, calendar and contacts solution through www.outlook.com. When
users sign up for a free Outlook account, in addition to the mailbox, calendar and contacts space, they get
access to the web versions of a wide variety of Office apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, OneNote,
Skype and more. We want to grow the personal email space and increase outlook.com’s share in it. Your
output:
We need you to identify and detail out the key features that you think will grow outlook.com’s Weekly Engaged
Users.

• Weekly Engaged User: A user that uses outlook.com at least thrice a week.
