Statement of the problem

Based on the data provided by CENRO Belison, the accessibility to the SNP is through a

feeder road, by riding a jeepney or a skylab(local dialect of single motorcycle for hire) from

town of Sibalom going to barangay Imparayan the nearest entry point to the protected area. The

park is also accessible through Sitio Apong, Brgy. Cabladan in the northern portion by riding a

jeepney or motorcycles through a national road via municipality of San Remegio, Antique.

Based on the latest statistics provided by CENRO Belison, arrival of visitors in the last

seven months of 2018 counted up to 1,470 which is less than the target visitors. Activities

offered to the visitors were mountain trekking, camping, sight seeing of raflesia and swimming at

the river. There were foothpaths or trails constructed and still passable to all visitors but no

maintenace was undertken due financial constraint.

The need of developing the SNP is due to its present role as the contributor in provincial

tourism industry because there are many tourist and recreational sites in SNP that can attract

fereign as well as local tourist. The development of Sibalom Natural Park using tropical design

solutions aimed to boost the tourism industry at the same time continues the conservation of

globally important biodiversity species through protection of natural habitat, direct foreign

investments and job opportunities in Antique and whole Philippines
