Topics for Memorized Speeches

Yes, you knew it was going to happen, and now it finally is here … you need to write a speech that you will memorize and
deliver to the class! Oh, no! What should I do? Keep reading to find out!
Directions:
1. You can choose from one of the listed speech topics below, or you may choose your own topic. It should be
something that interests you enough so that you can speak about it for at least 2 ½ minutes.

2. If you choose one of the topics below, please check it. If you decide to come up with your own topic, please write
it on the “other” line at the end of the 2nd column.

3. Once you have chosen your topic, do some prewriting in the space provided.

4. Then, on a separate sheet of paper, write the rough draft of your speech. It should have an introduction, middle,
and conclusion. This is only a rough draft! Expect to make major changes to it before you have a final version.
