Do-Now/Mini-lesson/Warm-up
Actively Learn "Allusions" video with multiple choice and short answer questions
Learning Activities or Instructional Strategies
Students will complete a Do Now on Actively Learn, where they will watch a short video about allusions, which relates to the literary device we will examine and focus on in their
guided notes for Act II. Once the students watch the video independently, they will answer the multiple choice questions and short answer question that Actively Learn creates.
This will count as a summative grade to assess their close reading of a text, and their conceptualization of allusions. After the Do Now is complete, students will briefly discuss
what examples of allusions they have observed in other texts throughout school. Once all students contribute to defining what an allusion is, they will move their desks into a
literature circle with the entire class. Students will lead the lit circle, while adding to their guided notes; they will pause to ask questions, make predictions, and to discuss why they
think Miller found it necessary to write the play during the time he was alive in the U.S. For homework, students will complete their guided notes, and include additional points and
observations to demonstrate their understanding and personal connections to the text.
