LAB # 5

INTRODUCTION TO CISCO IO’S

(CONFIGURATION OF CONSOLE PORT)

COMPONENTS:

1) ROUTER
2) END DEVICE > Pick PC
3) Connecting devices > console (for connection)

STEPS:

a) Naming :

Name both device by clicking them > Set Pc 0 to HOST & and ROUTER

b) Connections :

Make connection between router and pc by console cable.

 c) Set Host IP:

Click on Host > set ip 192.168.1.20

d) Configuration of Console :
1) Click on router> CLI > press enter and “user mode “will be accessed.
2) Write “enable” to access the “privilege mode”.
3) For setting PASSWORD, Goto configuration mode by writing “Configure Terminal”
4) Write “enable password Hannad”
5) For encrypted password write “enable secret Khan”
 e) Now to create password on line wRITe “lINe CONSOle 0” ,line console will be
accessed:

=> Write “password TheGreat”

f) SHOW RUNNING CONFIGURATION:

In privilege mode write command “show running configuration”. This command will show all the
configuration that we made. Since our project involves only the creation of passwords, so have a look
below:
Conclusion:

Now we have created 3 passwords. So whenever privilege mode is needed to be accessed, it will prompt
to enter the passwords for encryption.
