I’m so glad that we are able to
stage this musical. This musical
was made possible some 15 years
ago back in 2003 in ACS at ACS
Barker Road. This musical was
commissioned because at that point
in time, the school went through a
journey just like ours; a new school
was being established and over the
years we wanted to honour God
because of His faith in us and for
bringing us through that journey.
Today, ACS Jakarta has the honour
of staging this musical because we
too went through a Journey of Faith.
This is the second show. In the first
show, I had a special message for
the audience as well as the cast;
and for every show, I’ll share a new
message. In the first show, I helped
us to recall about the burning bush
because that is a very special
encounter. That is the encounter of
man with God, and in the show, it
was Moses with His God. It is true
for all of us that the Journey of Faith
begins with that encounter when we

Primary Matters Science Investigatory Projects for Wednesday, 21 February

on the students’ academic
progress. Only parents and
students whom the teachers
wished to meet attended this PTC.
We hope that parents and students
found the meeting beneficial.
SMILe Week
The Science, Maths and IL/GP
Departments held the
SMILe Week program last week.
The activities were set-up with a
view to help the students learn
from experiential learning and
apply what they have learnt in
class in the activities. The activities
done last week were:
Monday, 19 February
On Monday, grades 2-5 students
were engaged in various science
activities, such as Silhouette
Project for grade 2, PopsBridge!
Competition for grade 3, Stem
Careers Festival for grade 4 and
grade 5 students. Students took
turns to see their friends’ work
and learnt some new scientific
ideas at the same time.
Tuesday, 20 February
Tuesday was Maths day. Grades
1-6 students did the following
Maths activities:
 Grade 1 made fruit skewer in the
classrooms. They had fun
cutting the fruits and making fun
patterns in groups.
 Grade 2 learnt about the topic
‘Weight’ by weighing and making
popcorn. Of course they had the
chance to eat the yummy
popping treat after that.
 Grade 3 made chocolate
pudding outdoors. In groups of
four, students had to prepare the
ingredients, weigh them and
then cook the pudding with
custard and cashew nuts and
canned fruits for toppings.
 After lunch time, Grades 1-3
students had fun playing various
games in the game booths that
were prepared by Grades 4-6
students.
On Wednesday, Grades 1-6
displayed their IL/GP projects on
the following topics:
 Grade 1: Learning Something

 Grade 2: Rich Culture of
Indonesia
 Grade 3: Past Civilizations
 Grade 4: Living in Indonesia
 Grade 5: Reduce, Reuse,
Recycle
 Grade 6: Nuclear Power Plants

what they have learnt.

Badminton Friendly Match with Sekolah Pelita Harapan Lippo Village

On February 3 ACS Jakarta’s
Primary badminton players set off
early in the morning to Sekolah
Pelita Harapan Lippo Village,
Karawaci for a friendly match.
Accompanied by two coaches, Mr
Edo & Mr Sigit, and 1 TIC, Ms Tri,
these 11 students eagerly mingled
with other players from SPH to
b u i l d t h e i r s p o rt s m a n s h i p ,
techniques and skills. Out of 27
matches, our ACS Jakarta Primary
badminton players successfully
managed to lead in 21 games. We
would like to thank the school &
parents for their support and we
hope to join more events to build
the players’ confidence,
commitment and skills.

fermented vegetable kimchi, which
can be something of an acquired

which forms the backbone of
almost every meal, although it is
sometimes replaced with noodles.
Much of the food that exists in
Korea today and the customs
surrounding it have come from
royal cuisine and the complex
customs of the ancient court. The
food is a study in balance with
careful consideration given to
temperature, spiciness, colour and
texture along with considered
presentation.

On 10 February, some members
from the badminton team
participated in a friendly match
held at Sekolah Pelita Harapan
Karawaci (SPH). In the beginning,
there were only grade 11 and 12
students from SPH that were
participating, but the grade 7, 8
and 9 students came around an

back from a field trip the day
before. Our opponents were
tough to beat as they were more
experienced than us. Even
though we lost overall, we were
able to learn more about our
