Random Binary Sequence

1. Toggle switch provide for ON and OFF the random wave generation.
2. Use amplitude adjuster to regulate the random wave amplitude.
5. Frequency adjuster = provide provision to select four different frequencies with the help of
toggle switch.
1st frequency(500hz) 0 0
nd

3 frequency (2kHz) 1 0
4th frequency(3kHz) 1 1
In the Random Binary Sequence the frequency is not set to any steady value so it could be varies
continuously.

Sampling Frequency Selection

Four toggle switch provide four different frequencies
1st 8kHz
2nd 16kHz
3rd 32kHz
th
4 64kHz
Connect the output of the sampling frequency section to DSO to check the corresponding signals.

ACTIVE FILTERS
Second Order Low Pass Filter
Circuit Diagram

1. 2nd order low pass butterwort filter with cut-off frequency 3kHZ.
2. First check the VCC (8th pin) and ground (4th pin) on the IC connector.
3. No other signal should be present.
4. Apply the input signal (sine 1Vp-p with frequency range 100 to 10kHz)

Fourth Order Low Pass Filter

Circuit Diagram

1. 4nd order low pass butterwort filter with cut-off frequency 3kHZ.
2. First check the VCC (8th pin) and ground (4th pin) on the IC connector.
3. No other signal should be present.
4. Apply the input signal (sine 1Vp-p with frequency range 100 to 10kHz)

RESET SWITCH
Reset switch is use to deactivate all the signal including signal generator portion, sampling frequency
and multiplexer and demltiplexer.
CRYSTAL FREQUENCY
This section provide the high frequency = 25MHz .

MODE SELECTION SWITCH

This switch provide provision to use multiplexer in two modes

First : Auto mode

In this condition there is no channel selection means as many as signal applied to multiplexer it produce
the multiplexed output.
Second : Manual mode
In this condition selection of channels is transferred to select line switch S1 and S2. Output of the
demultiplexer is depend on the switch conditions.
S1 S0
0 0 CH1
0 1 CH2
1 0 CH3
1 1 CH4
PROCEDURE FOR PERFORMING SIGNAL MULTIPLEXER AND DE-MULTIPLEXER

TWO MODES ARE USED = AUTO AND MANUAL

AUTO
1. Connect the output of each one of the signal generator block (sine, triangle, square, random
binary sequence) to the input channels (CH1, CH2 for Sine and Triangle, CH3, CH4 for square and
random signal generation) of the multiplexer.
2. Test the PCM modulated output at the test point (P, P2,P3, P4) here, input signal is sampled
with the sampling frequency adjusted by the sampling frequency selection section at different
frequencies(8,16,32,64 kHz).
3. Check the output of the MUX/TDM ENCODER at serial out terminal.
4. Connect the MUX/TDM ENCODER at serial out terminal to the serial in of the DEMUX/TDM
DECODER.
5. Check the output of the DEMUX/TDM DECODER at the test point (D1,D2, D3, D4) those are give
same output as the signal measured at test point (P1, P2 ,P3 ,P4).
6. Measure the PCM demodulated output at terminal (CH1, CH2, CH3, CH4).
7. Analog output of channel CH1 and CH2 connect to the butterworth filter input(as required
connect to 2nd order or 4th order)
8. Test the output of the filter(that should be approximately same as the input applied to the
CH1_I/P AND CH2_I/P)

MANUAL
1. Connect the output of each one of the signal generator block (sine, triangle, square, random
binary sequence) to the input channels (CH1, CH2 for Sine and Triangle, CH3, CH4 for square and
random signal generation) of the multiplexer.
2. Test the PCM modulated output at the test point (P, P2,P3, P4) here, input signal is sampled
with the sampling frequency adjusted by the sampling frequency selection section at different
frequencies.
Output of the demultiplexer is depend on the switch conditions.
S1 S0
0 0 CH1
0 1 CH2
1 0 CH3
1 1 CH4
3. Check the output of the MUX/TDM ENCODER at serial out terminal, Now this only provide the
output which is selected by selection switch.
