Many parents register their children to a school in the age of 4. However, others say that it has
some disadvantages.

1. What are the disadvantages of starting to school early?

2. If parents still want to send they children in that age, what should teachers and schools do to
reduce the negative effect?

In today’s education, there are many children who are admitted to school at an early age by their
parents. In spite of that, others say that it has some disadvantages. There is a lot of research out
there that earlier elementary school is not only a bad idea but could also be detrimental to the
growth of the children.

Nowadays, the education of children is concerned strongly by parents. Parents with kids old
enough to attend school have a tough decision to make. They sometimes are still confused when
to start their kids in kindergarten and most of them believe that the earlier they start the better it
will be for them. As the studies show, starting kids at a younger age has its advantages, but there
are also a few downsides. One of the disadvantages is that older children are often more
aggressive and outgoing, causing them to fall into leadership roles more often than younger kids.
Older children also have an advantage over younger students when it comes to following
directions, as younger children may become more easily confused. That being the case, parents
should try to determine whether their kids are actually ready for a class environment. Parents
should mainly focus on if their kids are capable of coping with long periods away from home
and if they can handle instruction well enough for a classroom.

Working with children who start an early childhood education can be very exhausting and
requires patience, dedication and sensitivity. One of the things that teacher can do to reduce the
downsides of this issue is teachers in early education need to be creative and adaptive. To reduce
the negative effect, teachers and schools must think outside their own mature perspective and be
able to place themselves in their students’ shoes. Moreover, lessons in early education
classrooms are very hands-on. They involve arts and crafts, storytelling, exercise, educational
games and more. Teachers need to be fast on their feet and highly adaptable to continuously
come up with new ways to guide children through their early learning stages.
