Why Books Are Important for Us?

A wise man omce said, “learning without book means nothing.” In my opinion, this
statement is true. Why do I say that? This is for several reasons.
Firstly, books are important because they develop the minds of people who read them.
Even if you don’t agree with what an author has done in a book, you can at least have formed
your own ideas on what would have been better. This leads to critical thinking skills. These
critical thinking skills are a necessity for the development of cultures.
Secondly, book contains so much more than just the story. They record facts. They
review history. Books are the documentations of themes that relate to everyone. You can
even learn about a preood in history just by looking at what books were popular and ublished
during that time. For instance, the clasic taes of two cities by Charles dickes is set in the
French revolution era.
The last thing I’ll say is that books are essential to life, because they do not only carry
knowledge, but they also entertain us with stories ranging from mystery and drama to
comedy, adventures, and autobiographies. In other word, you can read book about anything.
These possibilities are limitless and that is one of the many lessons you can learn from
reading books.
Based on the reason listed above, it is obvious that books have a great influence in our
lives. Without book we may learn nothing.

14. All of the following statements stated are true about books, except ...

book?
a. To make your own book

e. To keep our disagreement

17. What idea does writer want to convey in text?

Faster planes and cheaper flights

Faster planes and cheaper flights are making it easier than ever before for people to travel. In
the most 'developed' societies, visiting exotic places is a sought-after status symbol. The
tourism industries of both developed and developing countries have recognized this fact and
are learning to take advantage of it.

There are, however, some problems associated with this new industry. Firstly, there is the
increasing crime rate. Some local's tourists as an easy prey because, not only are they in
unfamiliar territory and therefore less able to take care of themselves but also they carry
visible items of wealth, such as cameras and jewelry which can be disposed of quickly for the
profit.

Another major problem is health. With greater mobility comes greater danger of spreading
contagious diseases around the world. One carrier returning home could easily start an
epidemic before their illness was diagnosed. Moreover, the emergence of many diseases
which resist antibiotics is causing scientists to be increasingly concerned about this issue.

Also to be considered is the natural environment, which can be seriously threatened by too
many visitors. Australia's Great Barrier Reef, for example, is in danger of being destroyed by
tourists and there are plans to restrict visitors to some of the more delicate coral cays.

These are just three of the reasons why any country should be wary of committing itself to an
