Operation Manual of Monitoring System HCM3.0 of INVT CH and GD Series Frequency Inverters

1. General

This manual describes the usage of the INVT CH and GD series frequency inverter monitoring system HCM
to configure and monitor the INVT CH and GD series frequency inverters.
At present, all INVT CH and GD series frequency inverters support Modbus protocol and upper PC software is
provided for operation control and parameter modification of the frequency inverters. They are intuitive and
easy to operate. Additionally, the market demands for monitoring frequency inverters with upper PC based on
Modbus protocol are increasingly strong.
In the present market, frequency inverters are controlled only with PLC or Commix. As it needs to program
according to the standards of different frequency inverters, this causes complicated control development of
upper PC, puts forward high requirements for the operators, and present more problems.
To make full use of the Modbus protocol, decrease the application threshold of Modbus, and make it better
compatible with the company’s frequency inverters, INVT R&D Department developed this version of software.
By taking advantage of other software, this software has the following features:
 Simultaneously supports the operation control of several sets of frequency inverters of different
types. Supports using one set of upper PC to simultaneously control several sets of frequency
inverters of different types.
 Supports uploading of all function codes and saving them in the parameter file and, at the same
time, supports downloading the function code parameters in the parameter file to the frequency
inverters.
 Optimized communication section and improved communication efficiency.
 Compatible with and automatically recognizes all types of frequency inverters of INVT CH series
(note: do not support the products of old versions).
 Supports operation monitoring of any two frequency inverters at any moment, can modify
monitoring speed, and selects the frequency inverters to be operated and monitored.
 Supports modification and view of the parameters of one certain frequency inverter and can
show the analog quantities and port status of this frequency inverter with waveform curves.
 Supports log function and agile log configuration. Follows up and saves the interaction
information between the upper PC and every frequency inverters to facilitate definition and
solution of problems.
 Flexible operation control function. This function can control all INVT frequency inverters.
 Open configuration function. All INVT series frequency inverters are abstracted in the design of
this software so that the software design is not dependent on a certain model of frequency
inverter. Various frequency inverters are embodied diversely in the configuration table. In this
way, if the function code of the frequency inverter is changed, we need only to modify the
configuration table and there is no need to upgrade the main program, hence the applicability of
the software is improved.

2. Use of HCM

2.1 Hardware connection

The frequency inverters are equipped with RS485 interface while PCs are generally equipped with
RS232 interface. So a RS232-to-RS485 converter (HEXIN converter is recommended) must be
connected at the PC side. Then, connect via twisted pair (0-5kM). The interface connection mode is as
shown in the table below:
