JOB TITLE: PRINCIPAL HITEC-IMS

 Roles/Responsibilities:
The Principal is the overall administrative head of the institution and is responsible for
looking after all aspects of the academic mission and achieving the objectives
associated with the institution’s main planning pillars which are:
 Education,
 Research,
 Clinical care, and
 Community engagement.
He shall function as per the criteria of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council.

I. Education:

 Ensures the quality of trainees (medical students, graduate students, residents,


fellows, and postdoctoral trainees)
 Maintains and enhances undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate medical education,
and continuing medical education, including provision of coordinated implementation
of the curriculum and curricular changes.

II. Research:

 Fulfills the Research agenda which ensures the inclusion of interdisciplinary


programs, basic research, and clinical research.
III. Clinical Care:

 Responsible to ensure that the clinical facility provides a high quality patient care
and is conducive to the integration of educational and research programs;(for this
purpose, He maintains a strong coordination liaison with the serving Commandant of
the HIT Hospital who is responsible for all hospital administrative matters)
IV. Community Engagement:

 Assures active engagement and collaboration with community


partners/stakeholders to improve health through partnership, outreach, and health
advocacy.
 Promotes a community of diverse faculty, residents, students, and staff.
 Marks a leadership role in community awareness activities as a part of health
awareness raising initiative as per WHO guidelines.
 Administrative/Leadership Role:

 Principal is also the administrative Head of the Institution. He exercises the


administrative, legal & financial power as delegated under the rules of the institution.
 Develops and maintains a good relationship with students/trainees, faculty, staff,
and alumni. He is responsible to Foster professionalism, diversity, and a positive
work/learning environment.
 Administrative Head of the CNE OPD (a project of HITEWT).
 Maintains a strong liaison with the PMDC and NUMS (The university to which the
institute is affiliated with). Also responsible for Inspection and Affiliation of all the
running programs with their certification/affiliation bodies.
 Ensures the policy/guidelines of the budget of the institution and
monitors/implements as per approval of the HITEWT.
 Ensures that all policies issued by HITEWT are implemented in true letter and spirit.
