15 REASONS TO VISIT MIJAS ON THE COSTA DEL SOL

INTRODUCTION
Villages of Mijas is located in valleys of the Sierra de Mijas mountain range that is fenced by long forest.
The village settles in the foot hill at 428 meters above sea level. Mijas is known for its “white villages” with

4. WINE FESTIVAL: 1st ever wine festival was conducted in 2014 in the plaza Plaza Virgen de la Pena in
Mijas. After that it became of the fiesta in Mijas.

5. FLAMENCO IN MIJAS: Usually on Wednesdays in Plaza Virgen de la Pena in Mijas village, travelers
and citizens can relish a free flamenco show presented by 'Artes Cordobes'.

6. LA NOCHE DE SAN JUAN: A celebration that is conducted in the beginning of summers for the
longest night, named as ‘The night of San Juan’ that usually cascades on the 23rd or 24th of June, though
at times this celebration goes on for few days too. In this celebration everyone can see outstanding firework
even from miles around.

7. SUMMER MONTHS: the hot summer months are very pleasant to enjoy as the village is on the higher
level of mountain and visitors really enjoy the pleasant nights of July & August, where one can have fun
being part of festivals like flamenco, Caribbean music, Ruta de Tapa, visit craft market in the Plaza Virgen
de la Pena or relish musical performances.

8. THE YEARLY MIJAS FAIR: Another week of celebration held in September, where a celebration is
done in honor of Patron Saint of Mijas - The Virgin of the Rock. The main agenda still lies on having fun,
the area around main square is decorated and set up with stalls and bars where drinks and plenty of food is
provided. Everyone is dressed up in more traditional dresses.

9. FAIRS OF SUMMER: In Andalucía every village has its own charm and its own fair, but they all seem
to focus on food, drinks music stalls rides and chance to win fluffy toys on hitting balloon with darts. The
reason for all this is that people of Spanish love to celebrate and week of feria is no exemption.

10. GUIDED WALKS: Mijas Foreigner's Department systematizes free guided walks in the attractive
rustic areas of the metropolis. The walks depart Mijas town hall at 10am and it goes on for 2 to 4 hours.
Guides has designed their own routes for family travelers with a dog leading the journey. This usually
happens on Saturdays between Septembers to May.

11. THE BULLRING MIJAS CHARM: It is a place where bullfights and horses are displayed for the
sake of entertainment. It was commenced in 1900 and its shape is oval.

12. THE MIJAS AUDITORIUM AND MUSEUMS: During summers travelers were be able to find
concerts happening on every Saturday evening in auditorium. Museum of Mijas displays the beautiful
historical knowledge of Mijas and past bygone years. An exclusive miniature museum, which was formed
or created in 1972 by a well-known hypnotist and was positioned in a caravan - it exhibits objects from 50
different states. Another museum was formed related bullfighting located at bull ring – which is devoted to
the history of bullfighting.

15. SHOPPING: Hand-made ceramics are as traditional to Spain as Haggis is to Scotland, but for the
genuine article you will have to travel to the village of Mijas - and the best place in Mijas for traditional
