The purpose in writing this paper is to fulfill the assignment that given by Mrs Citra Dewi as
lecturer in maintenance of electrical distribution and equipment major.
in arranging this paper, the writer trully get lots challenges and obstructions but with help of
many indiviuals, those obstructions could passed. writer also realized there are still many
mistakes in process of writing this paper.
because of that, the writer says thank you to all individuals who helped in the process of writing
this paper. hopefully allah replies all helps and bless you all. the writer realized that this paper is
still imperfect in arranging and the content. then the writer hope the criticism from the readers
can help the writer in perfecting the next paper.
last but not the least Hopefully, this paper can help the readers to gain more knowledge about
major maintenance of electrical distribution and equipment .

1. Definition of Circuit Breaker
What is circuit breaker? Circuit Breaker have an acronim (CB) as known as “pemutus
hubungan listrik” is a electrical distribution component its function is for break the circuit if the
circuit have over current, and there is question “why we should break the circuit?” the answer
is if we don’t break the circuit and its over current the building might becomes burn down.
So, because of that circuit breaker is one of the important things in electrical distribution
and if there is no circuit breaker the building will susceptible to burn down and it means the
building have no protection, because the cables have a limit of ampere resistance and if it over
the resistance it will burned down.
Its usually used by industry cooperate because its use 3 Phase electricity
Tripping Curve Characteristic (TCC) is a curve that explains when a circuit breaker is
cut off and how much electrical current it can pass.
From here you can also be sure how much amperage from a circuit breaker is needed for a
protection system.
Here are the 3 types of characteristic curves that a circuit breaker has.
Type B: trip 3 - 5 x In
Type C: trip 5-10 x In
Type D: trip 10 - 20 x In
4. Conclusion
Circuit breaker is an electrical switch that functions automatically to prevent damage from
electrical circuits due to short circuit, overload, and ground fault. One type of circuit breaker is
MCB or Miniature Circuit Breaker. The advantages of MCB type circuit breakers are:
1. Can break a series of three phases at a time even though only one phase has a short circuit.
2. Can be reused after the circuit is repaired due to short circuit or overload.
