As the saying goes, “Youth is the hope of our country”,

continues to uphold and uplift the moral values of the Agusanon
youths through her Youth Congress held annually. This Youth
Congress really plays a vital role in molding and uplifting the
youth’s values particularly our Agusanon Youth of todays. And
so, in coordination with the Department of Education, last
August 29 and 30, 2018, Youth Congress for Batang Agusanon
2018 was held.

The said congress was held at Datu Lipus Makapandong Cultural Center, Gov. D.O
Plaza Government Center, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur with a theme, “For Toda’ys
Youths, The Future Belongs to You- Prepare for it”. This was participated by 526
participants from 22 different high schools of Agusan del Sur namely, Mabuhay NHS,
Pulang Lupa NHS, Duangan NHS, Mt. Olive NHS, Manat NHS, Calaitan NHS, Laminga
NHS, San Vicente NHS, Marbon NHS, Esperanza NHS, Hawilian NHS, Sta. Josefa NHS,
Anislagan NHS, Sta. Cruz NHS, Aurora NHS-Sta. Josefa , Aurora NHS- Prosperidad, La
Fortuna NHS, Patin-ay NHS, Zillovia NHS, Noli NHS and Marcelina NHS. The
participating schools had 10 to 50 participants and Marcelina National High School has
the most number of participants during the congress.

Deliverance prayer, Enthronement, Holy Rosary with Tableu, and Opening Salvo:
Entrance of the Flag was realized during the opening program. Provincial Governor,
Adolf Edward G. Plaza gave his Welcome Address. Hon. Maria Valentina G. Plaza, Hon.
Evelyn Plaza Mellana and Madam Valentina G. Plaza, the former MRVFP Council, also
gave ther message. Participants was presented by the Head of the MRVFS, Sister Judith
R. Lagumbay. Ofcourse, the two Schools Division Superintendent, Ms. Minerva T. Albis,
Ph.D., the SDS of Agusan del Sur and Ms. Imelda N. Sabornido, Ph.D., the SDS Bayugan
City also gave their message.

Two topics have been discussed after the lunch, “The Empowering the Youths of
Todays” and “God, Social Media and Me”. Holy Mass was offered before the dinner and
participants was set to their respective billeting rooms.

Holy Rosary was offered before eating the breakfast on day 2 of the congress.
Three topics have been discussed before lunch and these are : “Notions of Freedom” by
Rev. Fr. Angelo A. Torres, “Prepare to Overcome Temptations” by Mr. Felix Ceasar A.
Pasculado, Life Discovery Recovery Coach of Tagbilaran, Bohol , “Pressing Need
Toward’s Youths Goals” by Pastor Elpedio A. Montenegro, Philcam Alliance Church,
Surigao City. Bro. Franz Josef B. Belleza, Missionary of Oblate Apostles of Two Hearts-
Phils., discussed the “Faithfulness to Christ” and “Mentanola: A Call to Conversion” was
the topic discussed by Rev. Fr. Angelo A. Torres and a Concelebrated Eucharistic
Celebration was held by Rev. Fr. Angelo A. Torres.

A Closing program was held after the Holy Mass was offered. Participants were
really excited to share their experiences and wisdom learned from the congress and to
go home with them, the “extra powers” to resist themselves against the temptations
brought by contemporary world.
