METHODOLOGY:

“Violence against women and children is a public health problem. It

can be prevented.” – World Health Organization

True by essence, this maxim which strongly emphasizes the dilemma

in which women and children are put serves as a wake-up call for the nation
to end the horrible circumstances they are in. Now for year 2021, another
annual campaign had started to spread awareness, give emphasis, address, and
most of all, end violence against women and children.

In response to the call of the Philippine Commission on Women

(PCW) and the Department of Education to support this annual celebration,
San Joaquin National High School – Manguino Annex in a joint participation
with Manguino-o Elementary School thru its School GAD Coordinator
spearheaded the yearly program.

To realize this occasion in a more meaningful way, San Joaquin NHS

– Manguino-o Annex conducted a school parade together with the Manguino-
o Elementary School teachers with female school children waving a slogan
made out of recycled cardboards and colorful hues of small flags bearing the
theme “VAWC Free Community Starts With Me”.

Thereafter, the day started with a simple program having a song for
country delivered first. A morning praise to God followed and was given by
Ms. Mary Catherine C. Jabelo, special teacher and TLE subject handler.
Then, the DepEd Calbayog Hymn was sung. To replenish everyone else’s
body and mind, a hataw-bayan followed led by the secondary school teachers.

After all generic parts of the program were done, two (2) welcome
messages were given by two equally competent school heads: Ms. Eladia H.
Pandong, school head of Manguino-o Elementary School and Mrs. Sonia C.
Cupla, school head of San Joaquin National High School – Manguino-o
Annex. As standard program activity, a rationale was also given by the
program head, Mr. Jonathan B. Bulawan discussing eloquently what the
campaign is all about. Lastly, a fervent parting message was given by Ms.
Sonia C. Cupla, school head of San Joaquin NHS-Manguino-o Annex.

The Covid-19 pandemic may have put a halt on face-to-face activities

left and right, but the San Joaquin National High School-Manguino-o Annex,
