Motivation in Life
Wang demonstrated strong determination when she first started. It came for her
personal experience of not having a variety of bridal wear to choose from. She was
determined to create a solution for this and its characteristic led her to puts through all
obstacle.
One of things that influences me the most is our culture, the American culture,
probably more now than ever before. I mean a lot of designers are focused on Paris,
there is no question. But I think for Vera, at this particular time, in this particular
decade, the American sense of style has yet again come to the forefront.
Vera Wang ended up shelving skating for the Vogue magazine because she
didn’t end up being accepted onto the 1968 U.S Olympic figure skating team. Not only
this, but when Wang work for Vogue she was passed from senior editor to editor in
Her childhood dream was to become an Olympic figure skater. She trained hard
for it but alas, it was not to be. That was her first heartbreak. While this gave her
considerable unhappiness, she refused to be halted in her pursuit for prominence. Soon
At 24, her lifestyle was spinning out of control as an editor, and her love for
designing clothes had taken the proverbial backseat. Unable to quite take the plunge,
Vera finally quit the magazine when she was rejected for the position of Vogue’s editor-
in-chief. Stung and bruised, she did not let the sad turn of events dampen her spirits.
Her fame had already reached the right ears and soon she found herself designing
accessories for Ralph Lauren. Finally venting out all her bottled up creative energies.
But the melancholic fact always stared her in the face her name had failed to appear on
the Olympic billboard and continued to elude its presence on the labels that she
designed.
