Action Points
1. Explore protection beyond aesthetic: the post-
pandemic consumer will value ergonomic design that
prioritises function alongside added protection. Look
into integrated masks, antimicrobial and
antibacterial materials, as well as pathogen-resistant
properties.
2. Use adapability and modularity to reach a more
diverse audience: shape-shifting apparel will be key to
create inclusive designs for a wider audience.
Modular garments allow for transseasonal use,
enabling greater product longevity.
3. Design in comfort across multiple categories:
incorporate wellbeing properties into premium
loungewear, and shift the tailoring category towards
comfort-first silhouettes as consumers continue to
navigate more flexible working patterns.
4. Explore the huge potential of digital design: from
camera-reactive patterns to 3D-rendered garments,
digital design has scope to offer shorter production
leads, accurate sampling and seemingly endless
means of expression for more inclusive ranges.

Peak Performance
The concept: The after-effects of the pandemic, alongside
environmental aggressors, will pave the way for hard-working
ergonomic apparel that combines performance and protection.
Our #consideredcommute story informs versatile, lightweight
silhouettes, and  #modulardesign is a core element, so
consider detachable face masks and integrated accessories,
as explored by Johanna Parv and Ek Thongprasert's Safe
Mode capsule.
Materials & textiles: Defensive qualities are key. The
antimicrobial and pathogen-resistant powers of silver inform

Business Casual
The concept: The demand for lifestyle and loungewear will
affect even the most formal of categories, so comfort should
be factored into workwear capsules at every opportunity.
Evolve classic workwear silhouettes such as trousers, blazers,
skirts and shirts into easier fits. Opt for elasticated or paper-
bag waistbands, tapered, wrap and carrot-style bottoms, and
oversized blazer fits. Balance your offering with premium-
quality boxy T-shirts and boy-fit shirting.
Materials & textiles: Low-maintenance, easy-iron, low-wash and
odour-preventing materials. See our Textiles Forecast for more.

The concept: #Stayhomestyle will last long after lockdown, and

with health being a consumer priority, the loungewear category
has to deliver comfort as well as wellbeing credentials. Plush
surfaces help to create a sense of refuge, while soft colours
have a restorative appeal. Opt for cocooning silhouettes and
clever details so that items can be adapted to suit consumers'
needs, such as button-down finishes and elasticated closures.
Materials & textiles: Hemp, linen, bamboo and lyocell offer next-
to-skin benefits such as cooling, hypoallergenic and anti-
microbial properties. Explore the high-wicking, deodorising
nature of Umorfil or Skin+ by Devan, complete with
rejuvenating and anti-ageing benefits.

House Party
The concept: The rise of entertaining at home, dressing for
digital or simply lounging in luxury inspires a trend that caters
to the desire for indulgent day-to-night apparel. This is a key
opportunity for set-dressing, slinky summer dresses and
relaxed outerwear. Use tones of champagne and rosé to inform
sensuous silhouettes.
Materials & textiles: Use luxe materials such as FSC cellulosic,
focusing on recycled options where possible. Seersuckers
make for tactile outer layers, evolving our Duvet Day story.

Design By Elimination
The concept: Following our Cut & Paste concept from A/W
21/22, drive newness via detailing with innovative cutouts and
creative pattern-making. Loungewear is a growing area of
focus, so be sure to interpret these fashion details into more
casual silhouettes to tap into the market for elevated basics.
Brands to watch: Fah Chack uses hardware to create a softly
gathered finish across plush materials. Kiev-based Katimō
opts for pieced patterns to create #cutouts across
contemporary silhouettes. Brazil's AKOMB explores

Elevated Simplicity
The concept: More than just a trend, minimalism encompasses
a core set of values around consuming less but better. For
fashion, this means elevated everyday pieces that move from
casual to occasion, with a focus on simplified, harmonious
silhouettes featuring intricate details. Explore #patternplay
twists and knots to eliminate additional pattern-cutting, and
use simple metal hardware to up-spec jersey silhouettes.

Lucid Layers
The concept: The lightweight appeal of summer sheers takes
on a delicate yet subversive quality in layered, light-shifting
looks – perfect for both casual and occasionwear lines. Use
gathering and drape to update items with a textured finish, as
seen at Supriya Lele, or create detachable elements with
adjustable straps for a modular effect.
Materials & textiles: Our Filtered Ombré textiles trend uses fine-
count GOTS cotton for matte chiffon-like opacity, as well as
technical voiles in recycled polyester or nylon.

Adaptable Design
The concept: Design inclusively by incorporating adaptable
qualities across silhouettes. Add adjustable features such as
drawstrings, straps and lacing, alongside material
manipulation such as shirring and stretch. Designs that can be
reversed or styled in multiple ways add value for consumers
who are demanding more cost-per-wear.

Innovation: Parsons updated the first-year project for its MFA
