SUMMARY PREDICTING AND PREVIEWING

Predicting and Previewing is the ability to estimate the contents of a text to get a general
description of the text quickly. Previewing and predicting can get some ideas about what you
will read and will also be able to follow the writer’s ideas better that way you will begin to
process the information far more quickly will save reading time and gain comprehension.

Predicting and previewing function to help you predict or make general information
guesses about the contents of a text/book. In addition to guessing the contents of the book, we
can also guess the contents of articles and paragraphs. Full article of several paragraphs, as
readers we can guess the contents of the paragraph of each article.

Method for predicting and previewing :

 Read the title

 Decide what kind of text it is

 Look at the way the text is organized

 Read very quickly the first line of each paragraph or sub-division

 Notice names, number, dates, and words that are repeated

 Read quickly the last few sentences in the final paragraph
