MARC ARVI V. QUIROZ

School Head
Dinarayat Primary School
Brgy. Dinarayat, Talavera, Nueva Ecija

Dear Mr. M.A.V. Quiroz

Subject: Geohazard Certification

This refers to your request letter received by this Office on September 25, 2019
requesting for issuance of a Geohazard Certification for the Dinarayat Primary
School located at Brgy. Dinarayat, Talavera, Nueva Ecija.

Based on the Detailed Landslide and Flood Hazard Susceptibility Map (1:10,000
scale) of Talavera, Nueva Ecija prepared by the Mines and Geosciences Bureau
(MGB) Regional Office No. III under the National Geohazards Assessment and
Mapping Program (NGAMP) of MGB, the proposed project area was classified as:

Hazard Type
Project Type and
Rain-Induced Remarks
Location Flooding
Landslide
(a) Provisions on easement
under the Philippine Water
Dinarayat Code should be observed such
Primary School as three (3) meters easement
at Talavera, for urban areas, 20 meters for
Not Moderate
Nueva Ecija agricultural areas and 40 meters
Susceptible Susceptibility
for forest lands.
(120°55'20.506"E,
15°33'30.878"N) (b) The structure to be built
must have provisions for vertical
evacuation.

To address potential foundation problems, such as long-term settlement, etc.,

geotechnical and site-specific studies should also be conducted first. Further,
other types of geohazards, such as earthquake-related ground shaking, lateral
spreading, liquefaction and volcanic hazards should be considered to determine
comprehensively the suitability of the building project. The assessment for
volcanic- and earthquake-related hazards can be requested from the Philippine
Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS). The building project
should be constructed in accordance to the National Building and Structural
Codes, using standard quality construction materials and standard construction
methods.

This serves as the Geohazard Certification for the above cited building project.
However, this does not substitute for an Engineering Geological and
Geohazard Assessment (EGGA) in securing the project’s Environmental
Compliance Certificate (ECC).

Attached to this certification is the pertinent geohazard map for further guidance.

Very truly yours,

By authority of the Regional Director,

(Signed)
ESTEBAN C. MARTIN
Chief, Mines Management Division
