What do you consider your biggest improvement in writing

competency?
My repertoire of writing skills was greatly expanded and enriched. First was
the general structure of an essay, from the hook to the conclusion. I was
introduced to the many classifications of hooks, thesis and conclusion types.
Each section was elaborated on thoroughly, from the introduction to the body
paragraphs and finally the ending. A process of outlining, first, second and
third drafts and revision was also introduced. Second were the many
branches of essays, from comparison essays between two objects, to
synthesis essays from two sources and normal essays. Every kind of writing
style has greatly improved for me, especially the first two writing formats.
Third was the introduction of writing and citation requirements such as TEEL.
Lastly were general tips and advice on grammar, punctuation, spelling, and
reminders on the tone and word usage suitable for academic writing.

What do you still have difficulties with?

My list of things I still have difficulties regarding are aplenty. But the main
hardship involves topic sentences and linking words. Topic sentences are
used to introduce or quickly outline the following paragraph, but that may ruin
the flow of writing for me. Linking words I also think to be largely
unnecessary, due to them only adding length and no depth to the work. I
have problems regarding these aspects, but I have also learnt to deal with
them somewhat through this course.

What did you like about the writing course?

The range of course topics, as it seemed to cover all the fundamentals. Also,
the freedom to try out different study methods to find out which works best. I
also liked that every part had both a theoretical and a practical exercise. My
favourite is that the connection between theory and practice is very good.

What changes would you suggest to improve the course?

I think the course is well off for its first year, although I wish we would also
focus on more general or less academic subjects like story writing or poem
creation.
