English 110
It has been an adventurous moment learning all the new aspects of writing while taking this
course. When the semester started, my skills were so poor I did not believe that growth was
attainable. I know I am not extremely good, but I have taken steps that have enabled me to
improve so much, and I believe that the things I learned will have use in my future writing.
Grammar, synthesis, and formatting are some of the primary new knowledge.
Grammar is an essential part of any writing, and without grammar, it is not easy to deliver a
credible paper. I learned that it is one of the most essentials of writing. Spelling and correct
punctuation affect the delivery of the report and how the audience understands it. The lectures
helped a lot in understanding how to construct grammatically correct sentences and correct
punctuation. In addition, knowledge from the lectures, such as the Thesaurus, helped a lot in
crafting concise and logical sentences. In my perspective paper, almost everything was wrong. I
had poor grammar, and I did not punctuate the sentences t correctly. It took me time to go over
the lectures to gain additional knowledge. The discussions with classmates also helped in my
growth. You realize that most students post the tips that they gained from specific modules.
Therefore, the application of those tips proved to be of so much help in my writing journey.
Before taking the course, I had no idea what synthesis was. I know that paraphrasing and
summarizing are necessary, but the synthesis module provided better ways to synthesize

resources to deliver the correct information uniquely. That is a skill I did not apply in the first
paper. I just wrote an essay, but my sources were not correctly synthesized, and therefore some
information got distorted. But my last writing was much better as I made sure that each source
was adequately synthesized and analyzed my sources well. My sources were illogically analyzed
in my past papers up to the project draft. I am handling a topic on global warming policies.
Under the global warming policies, there are main subtopics, green energy adoption, carbon
emissions, and carbon tax which dominated my paper. In the last paper, I realized that having the
information in that sequence was more effective. Therefore I sampled the sources and grouped
them under the three, and the flow of my paper was carbon emissions, then tax, and finally green
energy. It was so much effective writing it that way. It also helped me choose the most credible
sources efficiently.
One of the biggest challenges I face is MLA formatting, and I believe I did well in the last
paper. All the other papers before that one had wrong formatted. After I realized what I was
doing wrong, I felt stupid. But lea ring from those small mistakes has helped me improve a lot.
The editing of MLA sources was wrong in all the wrong papers on the punctuation details.
Incorrect use of brackets, commas, and full stops. But after the sample video, I now believe that I
will never have trouble with MLA editing in the future. I am grateful I learned that. Lastly,
writing introductions and conclusions is one thing that requires critical analysis. They are
supposedly the most manageable parts but challenged me a lot. I am not sure my essential
analysis skills are excellent, but I am sure they have improved so much while taking the course. I
am now writing the introductions and conclusions differently than I used to for academic
appears, which a valuable skill for all my papers is in the future. For example, my last essay had

Growth was not easy to achieve, but dedication and commitment proved attainable. My
formatting, synthesis, and grammar have improved so much while taking the course. Most of the
papers I wrote before the project had many ignorant and uninformed mistakes, but I have
significantly improved my writing with all the knowledge gained. I am sure my future papers
