I can absolutely see great improvement in my writing throughout this semester. This
manifested in several different ways, but I think the greatest affect this class has had on my
writing is an improved ability to follow document structure. It is very easy for me to get
sidetracked and forget about smaller details, but each document type we had to make having a
different format really helped me learn to abide by the differences between them. Another way
this class made my writing better was through focusing in on more informative forms of writing.
Much of the writing I have done in the past has been mostly informal, so I think it has been
crucial for me to get some practice writing more formal documents that are closer to what I
would be writing at a job someday. I think this was especially true with the email and memo
packets, since those are the primary things, I would have to write in a future computer science
job.
What was your goal for this course and did you meet it? If so, how did that happen? If not, how
do you think the course could be revised to better help other students meet that goal?
My goal for this course at the beginning was to become a better communicator, especially
when it comes to more formal information and communication. Through the process of this class
this semester, I think that I achieved this goal. I think that this happened through doing projects
and assignments that were using document types and formats that I had never created myself
before. By putting me out of my comfort zone, this forced me to be more thoughtful about how I
communicated information, and I could not simply rely on previous projects and papers I had
done before. I thought that this aspect of the class was great. However, I think something that, if
changed, could be much more helpful is the group discussions. I think that having group
discussions are a great addition to the course, but I think that they should be a bit more
concentrated than they are right now. I think it would have helped me personally if there was a
smaller, more consistent group of people who all peer reviewed each other throughout the
semester. This way, we can get to know how they write and see how they improve over the

Out of all the assignments, I think I am most proud of the white paper overall. The main
thing I am proud of in this document is the research that went into it. I had several sources on
Climate Change that I needed to read and understand completely in order to implement it well
into my paper, so I was proud that the information came across clearly. If I could add any
assignment to this course, I think I would add more assignments like the Engagement Project.
Especially these past few years, with everything being online, it felt great to have to go out into
the world to get pictures for the project. If I could edit any assignment in the course, I would edit
the Workplace Correspondence. I would not want to change too much, but I think it would be
helpful if it was split up into two different assignments. One of them would focus on the email,
