Diaspora of English

English is the most widely spoken language in the world. There are some factors that
strengthen the status of English as a world language, the expansion of British colony; the
influence of the US as a superpower country; escalation of international communication
triggered by modern technology and the favour of English as lingua franca.

As the consequence of massive diaspora of English, the language has achieved a prestigious
status as an international language “used by native speakers of English and bilingual users of
English for cross cultural communication.”
