XIAN: Classmates,friends,teachers, judge. Good morning!

We are here to enlighten you,to

amaze you,to entertain you! Our first magic is called “THE RISING WATER MAGIC”!
THE RISING WATER MAGIC
JEAN JOSHUA: Hey guys! Do you know why water rise? Let’s do some magic!
LANCE: Here are the things you need:
* colored water
* clean white plate
* candle
* match
XIAN: I’m excited!!! Let’s begin!
JEAN JOSHUA: Pour the colored water into the plate. You want about a half-inch deep
puddle in the plate.
Set the candle on the center of the plate. Light the candle with a match. The
candle flame needs to burn brightly.
Place the clear glass over the lighted candle and see what happens……..`
EINA: wow, there’s some bubbles coming from inside the glass!
MAYONNA: Now, the candle’s light is out!
JEAN JOSHUA: Don’t blink! See what happens!
SARAH: WOW! Rising water!!!!
EINA: But, how does it work?
JOSHUA: At first, the flame heats the air inside the container and this hot air expands
quickly. Some of the expanding air escapes from under the vase where you might have
seen some bubbles. When the flame fades and goes out, the air in the container cools and
cooler air contracts or takes up less space. That contraction creates a weak vacuum – or
lower pressure – in the container. Where’s the higher pressure?
XIAN: Is it inside?
JEAN JOSHUA Nope!
SARAH: Is it outside?
JEAN JOSHUA: Right! It’s outside the container pressing down on the water in the dish. The
outside air pushes water into the container until the pressure is equalized inside and
outside the container. The water stops rising when that pressure equalization is reached.
ALL: Thanks for that info!
(2) THE GLASS-SUCKING-BALLOON
SARAH: We have all witnessed that cool rising water experiment now, let’s have another
fun-scientific-magic! THE GLASS-SUCKING-BALLOON MAGIC!
LANCE: What can you do with a balloon, a match, a piece of paper/match, and a glass?
XIAN: No idea, my friend.
JEAN JOSHUA: I know! We’re going to pop the balloon with the match? Am I right?
LANCE: No… Any other guesses?
EINA: Well, I think we will inflate the balloon with the use of the glass?
LANCE: No…
MAYONNA: I know! I think we will put the glass inside the balloon?
LANCE: Funny, but no…
SARAH: Hey, I don’t think any one of us can guess it. Maybe you can show us?
LANCE: Sure, watch and learn…. But first you need the following:
 One glass
 One inflated balloon
 Match sticks
LANCE: To start, get an inflated balloon, enough to fit through the mouth of the glass.
Then, light match drop it into the glass.
Quickly place the balloon on top of the glass. Observe carefully.

XIAN: Wow!!!! The balloon is getting sucked buy the glass!!!!

LANCE: Then, let’s lift the balloon to see if it stays in the glass….
JEAN JOSHUA: Wow, that looks cool! The balloon is like being vacuumed by the glass!
EINA: Vacuumed? I think, its because the size of the balloon is just right…
MAYONNA: I think, the glass is lighter than the balloon…
SARAH: Why don’t you enlighten us, LANCE (Name of Student
LANCE: The reason the balloon is sucked into the glass is due to air pressure.
When the piece of paper is heated, it creates hot air, which escapes around the balloon.
The hot air escaping is what makes the balloon shake at first. But because the balloon is
made of latex, no new air enters the jar, creating a low-pressure system inside the glass,
which sucks the balloon inside.
ALL: Wow!!!! That’s awesome!!!! Thanks for that cool information!
We love science!!!!!!!!!!

MAYONNA & EINNA: WE WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL OF YOU, MOST ESPECIALLY OUR CLASSMATES, TEACHERS AND THE BOARD OF
