A. Background
This leadership definition What is leadership? A simple definition is that

common goal. In a business setting, this can mean directing workers and
colleagues with a strategy to meet the company's needs.
captures the essentials of being able to inspire others and being prepared
to do so. Effective leadership is based upon ideas (whether original or
borrowed), but won't happen unless those ideas can be communicated to others
in a way that engages them enough to act as the leader wants them to act.
Put even more simply, the leader is the inspiration and director of the
action. He or she is the person in the group that possesses the combination of
personality and leadership skills that makes others want to follow his or her
direction.

EXEMPLARY SAPTAMARGA WARRIOR

TB Simatupang was an important figure involved in the formation of
ABRI. he was one of the important parties in the progress and development of
ABRI through writing that contained suggestions, thoughts and sharp criticisms
on each commemoration of ABRI's birthday. this is a reflection of the
emission of his baptism. sharpness of thought
in preparing prospective national leaders TB Simatupang always pay more
attention and are not bored to give advice and criticism, even giving real
examples of leadership qualities that we desire. One of the things that needs to
be improved is the sharpness in thinking TB Simatupang in responding to and
analyzing the development of the environment must be made an exemplary
source.

The role of politics, justice and national development

his political role can be said to uphold justice and help national development.
he often expressed his opinions in large discussions and was not reluctant to
criticize the government. the things that are fought by TB Simatupang are for
the people, justice also creates the conditions of society in accordance with the
wishes and expectations.

SIMATUPANG, thinkers and fighters of the nation

THINK AND WORK HARD
TB Simatupang likes to work hard, reads very diligently the sport is just
walking. reading and writing, giving lectures and discussing and even though
the audience is much younger, he always tries to note the important things that
are stated by others. TB Simatupang is someone who is critical, creative,
positive and realistic. this causes him to always express his opinion through
facts that are sometimes unacceptable by some parties. thus TB Simatupang
received a lot of criticism, both from within and from abroad.

HARD MEETINGS AND DISCUSSION.

if faced with a criticism, TB Simatupang will try to explain it
systematically. Even though he looks very serious and hard, in fact TB
Simatupang can put healthy humor right.

DISCUSSION AND DEBATE.

Hard discussions can occur between TB Simatupang and the discussants
in a seminar or discussion. he often says and writes that we must reject and
prevent all forms of dictatorship, authoritarianism and militarism.
“TAHI BONAR SIMATUPANG” A THINKER SOLDIER (bymoerdiono)
His attention was only drawn to military matters after the Dutch were
occupied by Germany (1939) and after the Dutch mocked that the Indonesian
people would not be able to build an army. Mr. Sim is not a professional
soldier in the usual sense. Pak sim is more precisely characterized as a warrior,
democrat and intellectual. Mr Sim is one of the few people who is completely
free of post power syndrome. Pak Sim has broad personal insight, which deals
with the civil and military fields themselves

SOCIAL SOLIDARITY
Social solidarity is a concept in sosiology that Emile Durkheim firstly
discuss. The term of solidarity maybe came from a word “solidare” in latin
more or less means tight binding. the term solid in English means strong
because it is solid, keeping in mind the meaning of the two words solidare and
solid, then there is a unity of attitudes and goals between various groups and
groups in society to deal with a problem that is felt together called social
solidarity

EDUCATION, NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND THE FUTURE OF

NATIONAL
National development as pancasila's experience is an Indonesian effort
to meet the goals and hopes of every citizen to attain a happy life and
prosperous both materially and spiritually. In this long-term effort, the role of
education and education institutions is immense even to determine whether or
not the goals of the nation and country are successful.
National development is basically a cultural change that is planned.
Planning cultural changes on others cannot be relegated to employment and
educational activities. To achieve the goal and goal of national development
requires human beings to build in bulk according to the needs and development
of the population of our country. Higher education will determine the quality of
humans, and it is from this institution of higher learning that we expect good
human qualities.
Beyond the point of education we cannot expect a total update of the results of
the education we have done. We're still in the middle of an education.

SIMATUPANG, MILITARY FIGHTERS ARE DEMOCRATS

By Adnan Buyung Nasution said : He was introduced T. B. Simatupang
at the end of 1966, when the itb student council along with Seskoad held a
seminar in Bandung. At that time the unity of action was reaching a phase of
thinking about how the new order was seen in how democracy was rebuilt after
the fall of authoritarian order's regime.
Of all my meetings and introductions with Mr. Gibbons there was a profound
impression of his concern concerning two things. The first was about ABRI's
place and role and the second to invite Indonesia.
The goal of achieving democracy in Indonesia and keeping the role of a
constructive one but also ensuring that it is not an easy problem. Hehe don't
think Sir Sim has been able to give a firm answer about the various aspects and
dimensions of him. He simply told us to be realistic in the sense of not giving
up the social power of concrete politics but also losing idealism and optimism
for a brighter future.

Dr. T. B SIMATUPANG AS LEADERS AND EXEMPLARY

By Doctor Jhon Berjudul : If we look back at the time of the struggle for
independence almost half a century ago, it is clear that without the struggle
against colonialism sovereignty would not be consigned to the Dutch colonial
government. Because colonial politics were entirely dependent on the games of
various political parties in the Hague as real until the end of the colonial
relationship.
At present, patients take part in that development. What is interesting is that
from the beginning he wanted the Dutch Indonesian conflict to be settled
promptly in an honorable and fundamental way through negotiations first. As a
member of the simatupang military delegation took part in many negotiations
and many times the negotiations failed by disrespect of the Dutch and again
made sacrifices until 1949 achieved temporary results at the round table
conference.

CREATIVE AND CRITICAL ROLE OF RELIGION IN SOCIETY

Dr. Simatupang had been contributed much to ecumenical thought
particularly with regard to the role of the Church in Society, and the direction
of implementing inter-church aid internationally. In an early statement on his
part to an ecumenical audience during an EACC consultation held at
Sukabumi, Indonesia in November 1962 he reflected on the basis and
chararcter of christian service in revolutionary Indonesia. The context was
significant

T.B. SIMATUPANG’S CONTRIBUTION TO ECUMENICAL SOCIAL

THOUGHT (by paul abrecht)
Simatupang was again a delegrate of his church to the 4th Assembly of
the WOC in Uppsala, sweden, in 1968 and participated both in Assembly
section IV on International Affairs, and in the Assembly Comitee on the future
work of the Departement on Church and Society. At the close of the Assembly
he was elected a member of the Executive and Central Committees of the
WCC, as well as of the WCC’s Commission on International Affairs. In the
ensuing years he became a key figure in numerous ecumenical consultations,
including Church and Society’s Hearing on Nuclear Energy in Sigtuna,

BAB III
CLOSING

CONCLUTION
From this book we can conclude that TB Simatupang worthy of the title
of hero of the state. That propriety can be counted on the ongoing battle of TB
Simatupang during life in both military and church movements.
What he has fought for can be a role model for young people and officials
today, that is persistent in fighting for the interests of many people. The simple
and persistent nature of his character became the foremost example to be and to
continue

SUGGESTION
Since there is an escape from context, we suggest that the book focus
more on the character of Simatupang. We also recommend that it presents more
