INTERNSHIP PROJECT FOR THE III SEMESTER M.COM (FA) STUDENTS

As per Bangalore University regulations pertaining to M.COM (FA) course, each student must
take up an ‘Organizational Study’ as part of their 3rd Semester qualifying requirements. They
must submit hard bound copies to: -

1) College,

2) University,

3) Self-Copy

Within 30 days of commencement of Internship Project.

Internship Report

This internship report is an Organizational Study. The students are expected to study the whole
organization or a wing of the organization (if the organization is a huge company).

It is compulsory for the students to take up assignments provided to them or tasks given by the
organization.

Objective

To help the students understand the actual functioning of an organization through


Internship Experience and give them the required practical exposure. They can conduct SWOT
analysis of the organization to understand the complete synchronized activities of an
organization.

Duration

During their 3rd Semester M.COM (FA), they have to work for a minimum period of 30 days and
submit the report of the same.

Regulations

1. The student shall attend to any task or assignment given to them by the organization.
2. There shall be an Organizational Guide and a College Guide.
3. The student must produce a Certificate of Internship Completion.
4. All of the above must be included and appended in the final report.

The Learning Process

1. Observe the work environment.


2. Sketch the Organization’s Hierarchy.
3. Study and make sufficient notes regarding the various departments of the organization.
4. Assess the organizational performance.
5. Prepare/Observe Vision, Mission, Objectives and Goals of the Organization (if not
prepared).
6. Examine any changes in the environment and how best the organization can achieve its
Objectives.

Steps to be followed in the Process of Internship Project Work under a Company:-
1) Present Economic Scenario
Before starting the Internship Project, students must understand the present economic
scenarios of the country and gauge how the company is also faring alongside the economic
aspects relating to the firm. Students can collect details such as GDP trends, Per Capita Income,
Monetary and Fiscal Policies, Prevailing Interest Rates etc.,
All such above information will be available in the Government Portals online and/or
Newspapers/Journals.
2) Industry Analysis
This Industry Analysis should include Number of Competitors, Rate of Industry Growth, Product
/ Service Characteristics, Capacity, Buyers / Customers; Suppliers of Raw Materials and Parts,
Substitutes available, Stakeholders of the industry, key success factors etc.,
All such above information will be available in the Government/Company Portals online and/or
Newspapers/Journals.
3) Company Analysis
The company analysis should include the following:
1. Type of Organization: Private/Public Sector Public Company/Private Sector Public
Company,
2. Year of Incorporation,
3. Company’s Mission, Vision, Goals and Objectives,
4. Promoters of the Company,
5. Shareholding Pattern,

Functional Analysis
The students are required to do analysis of each functional departments such as Marketing,
Human Resource, Finance, Production & Operations etc., It should include things such as
People, Policies, Systems and Procedures if any.
It should be done in 2 parts: -
Part 1
● The students should know specifically function/activities performed by each of
the departments. The functions could be listed. For example, Marketing Department
may be involved in Packaging, Advertisement, Transportation and Sales Promotion.
● The students are required to study organization structure of each of the
departments which includes the roles of each employees in their respective hierarchy.
● Number of employees working in the department in various categories.
● Classification of employees according to their age, qualification and experience.

Part 2
Production Department
The students are required to study plant facilities, type of manufacturing system, age and type
of equipment, degree and role of automation, plant capacities and utilizations, productivity
rating availability and type of transportation.

2. Raw Material used and Product Mix,
3. Cost Per Unit of Labour, Material and Overheads,
4. Inventory Management System,
5. Quality Control (TQM tools implemented),

No essential information must be leaked or lost.
The students are required to submit the Final Internship Report along with the Work Diary. The
same will be presented to the Viva-Voce panel as authentication and proof of Internship Project
Completion.
