Causes of delay in Saudi public construction projects (Jawad A.Alsuliman)

This article talks mainly about the causes of delay and the effects of delays in a construction
project. These days are the modern days where there are tons of constructions everywhere and the
research talks primarily on the ways to prevent unexpected anomalies from happening since if the project
is finished at a later time, not only the contractor loses his time and, in some cases, money, but the owner
is also affected by the delay. The research aims to explore on the factors contributing to the cost overrun
and identify critical factors of cause and effect of delay in a construction project. These factores where
categorized in to 4 categories – factors before the award of tenders, factors during the award of tenders,
factors after the awad of tenders, and general factors. The research were able to identify 50 factors that
causes delay to a construction project, mainly in Saudi, based from the survey of 211 participants from
the constructionindustry. The servey conducted was with experienced professionals in different areas
concerning the construction project and the came up with conclusions with regards to this topic.

An Analysis of Causes and Effects of Delays in Construction Projects in Libyan Oil Industry (David Arditi,
Shruti Nayak, Atilla Damci)

Time, budget and quality are the 3 main factors where the performance of a project is measured.
These three independent factors and are also the main reasons why there are delays. Being able to identift
the factors causing delay before a project engineer proceeds with the construction is one thing to consider
because it helps the project be more likely to be on track. The purpose of the research is to assess causes
and effects of delays in construction projects conducted in Libyan oil industry. Survey was conducted in
order to identify the most essential factors amongst clients, consultants and contractors. Finding and
hypothetical assumptions were then concluded at the end of the research

Causes of delay in large construction projects (Sadi A. Assaf *, Sadiq Al-Hejji)

Construction projects in Saudi Arabia was the location where the research was done and surveys
on time performance according to project participants were the main data that was gathered. Conclusions
were then drawn from the data gathered.

Cause of Construction Delay - Theoretical Framework (N.Hamzaha, M.A.Khoiry, I.Arshad, N.M.Tawil,

A.I.Che Ani)

This article talks about how intensive and challenging the jobs can be on a construction site and
that delays almost always likely to occur. It is observed that most construction projects are experiencing
delays on their projects, affecting the total duration of the project and the research talks on how to
strategically overcome these (all problems correlated to it). Thee research talks more mainly on the details
involving Civil and architectural works such as door installation and masonry works such as concrete
hollow block installation, cement plastering, and tile installation. In order to conduct the research, they
used the Method Productivity Delay Model in which it is broken down into three elements such as
collection of data, model processing and structuring, and implementation. Conclusions were then settled
based from the data gathered.
Exploring delay causes of road construction projects in Egypt (Remon F.Aziz, Asmaa A.Abdel-Hakam)

Even though huge construction companies and or the government have the ability to hire or
purchase the manpower they need, they still experience construction delays. These delays can have a
significant impact on the performance of a project. The research aims to focus on road construction delays,
specifically focused on the causes of the delays. Surveys were held to construction participants in order
to gather the data required to calculate the Relative Importance Index(RII). The tests and procedures done
in the experiment shows that there is a good correlation of causes and groups between contractors and
site/design engineers and between consultants and site design engineers and a somewhat low correlation
between contractors and consultants.
