ANSWER • Q6. B) 15 Kmph
Q7. A snail moves 8mm in one minute how many cm will it
move in an hour ?
• Solution

c) 48 cm

• 1 hour= 60 minutes
• Distance snail covers in 1 minute= 8mm
• Distance snail covers in 60 minutes= 8 × 60 = 480 mm
• 10 mm = 1 cm
• So 480 mm = 480 ÷ 10 = 48 cm (SBD)
• Answer: The snail moved 48 cm in an hour
Q8) Solution :
a) 41.34 km

• Distance covered in 6 hours = 248.04 km

• Distance covered in 1 hour = 248.04 km ÷ 6 = 41.34 kilometres
• Answer: Distance covered by train in 1 hour is 41.34 km.
9) The Mehta family is travelling by car to their farmhouse 20 km away they stop at a tea
stall after travelling 10 km 555 m. What is the distance of the farmhouse from the tea stall?

Solution :
b) 9 km 445 m

Total distance=20km

Travelled distance =10km 555m

(1Km = 1000m)

Total distance covered by the car= 20km -10km 555m = 9 km 445 m

Answer:
The distance from tea stall to farm house is 9 km 445 m
10) I bought 3125 g of apples then
what is the weight of apples in kg?
a) 3.125kg

1000g = 1kg

‫ ؞‬3125 g = 3125 ÷ 1000 = 3.125 kg

11) A bottle of 950ml juice is to be poured into 50 ml
cups. How many 50 ml cups can be filled altogether?
c) 19
Capacity of the bottle = 950mL
Capacity of each cup = 50mL
‫؞‬the number of cups that can be filled = 950mL ÷ 50mL = 19
(we can even use repeated subtraction here)

19 cups of capacity 50mL can be filled altogether.

12) Solve: 6kg – 1 kg 120 g

b) 4kg 880g
13) To convert from m to km
b) Divide by 1000
÷1000

m km

X 1000
m is smaller unit and km is bigger unit.

Whenever we convert from smaller to bigger unit, we

divide.

Since it is from m to km we divide by 1000.
