Colour Therapy

Colour therapy is a form of ENERGY

MEDICINE.

Energy Medicine or Energy Healing is a

therapeutic system that aims at harmonizing
energy bodies of living creatures.
Energy medicine practitioners know that
our bodies do not end at our skin level but
are surrounded by various cloaks, patterns,
grids, energy pathways etc. completely
crisscrossing, penetrating and shielding our
physical bodies.
This energy body goes by many names in
diverse cultural systems. We hear of aura,
celtic belt, energy grid, energy channels,
meridians etc.
What is the relationship between invisible
energy and a physical organ which is
matter?
The German scientist Albert Einstein gives
us a clue in his formula that is one of the
greatest scientific achievements of the
th
20 century.
Einstein relates Energy to Matter in his
2
mathematical equation; E=MC where E
stands for Energy, M for Mass or Matter and
C stands for the Speed of light.

Etc.

Colour therapy or chromotherapy is the

science of application of colour rays in the
visible light spectrum to effect healing of
body, mind and soul. No doubt, colour affects
man subjectively and objectively.
We hear colour expressions like; green
thumb, feeling blues, red with anger, red
fiery passion etc. Black objects absorb and
retain heat better than white objects. Bulls
are stimulated at seeing red flags. Mentally
agitated persons tend to relax better in an
environment largely decorated with blue
colour. Green soothes overstrained eyes.

Colour energy is a fundamental healing tool

since all forms of matter is known to have a
defined vibration pattern and frequency.
The colour frequency, for example, of iron
(Fe) is red and calcium (Ca) is orange. When
a person is deficient in any of these
elements, the corresponding colour can be
administered. The visible light spectrum
contains seven fundamental colour
frequencies. White light passing through a
prism is split into these fundamental
frequencies;
 Red
 Orange
 Yellow
 Green
 Blue
 Indigo
 Violet
Light (colours) are made of photons

Bio photons are photons of light emitted by

living beings.
Cells of the body communicate through bio
photons.
Biophotons slow down cancer growth rate.
Foods contain biophotons. When we eat food,
we actually take in life-supporting
biophotons.

Kate W. Baldwin, M.D., F.A.C.S., Former Senior

Surgeon, Woman's Hospital, Philadelphia, Pa
Quote from Kate W. Baldwin, M.D
“For centuries scientists have devoted
untiring effort to discover means for the
relief or cure of human ills and restoration
of the normal functions. Yet in neglected
light and color there is potency far beyond
that of drugs and serums.”
“Color is the simplest and most accurate
therapeutic measure yet developed. For
about six years I have given close attention
to the action of colors in restoring the body
functions, and I am perfectly honest in
saying that, after nearly thirty-seven years of
active hospital and private practice in
medicine and surgery, I can produce quicker
and more accurate results with colors than
with any or all other methods combined-and
with less strain on the patient.”
“In many cases, the functions have been
restored after the classical remedies have
failed. Of course, surgery is necessary in
some cases, but the results will be quicker
and better if color is used before and after
operation. Sprains, bruises and traumata of
all sorts respond to color as to no other
treatment. Septic conditions yield,
regardless of the specific organism. Cardiac
lesions, asthma, hay fever, pneumonia,
inflammatory conditions of the eyes, corneal
ulcers, glaucoma, and cataracts are relieved
by the treatment.”
Blue light, excellent in the treatment of
neonatal Jaundice.

The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine

1903 went to Niels Ryberg Finsen who
discovered that red light can be used to
quickly treat small pox.
Research done by NASA in conjunction with
the University of Alabama at Birmingham
Hospital has shown that red light technology
can successfully reduce symptoms
experienced by cancer patients, including
painful side effects caused from radiation or
chemotherapy.

In ancient Egyptian temples, provisions

were made for colour healing. Such temples
had sections where long halls with coloured
window glass panel or roofs were utilized for
colour therapy. The priest would ask a
patient that needs a particular healing
colour to enter and lie down inside that hall
compartment with the desired coloured glass
panel. As the sun rays passes through the
coloured glass windows, the colour is filtered
and the patient is suffused with the indicated
colour rays.
Mixture of colour pigments and mixture of
coloured rays (light) produce different results.
The colour wheels shown below depict the
results obtained by mixing colours using the two
methods.

Colour therapists make use of the
complementary aspects of each colour in
their treatment. Every colour has its own
complementary colour which can be likened
to its partner so to speak. The
complementary colour of blue for instance is
orange. What that means is; blue seeks out
for orange and orange seeks for blue to
balance each other. In diseases, the
complementary colour of the identified
excess colour ray responsible for the ill
condition is administered. Still in our
example of blue /orange, it is known that
excess orange can cause hyperactivity in
individuals, in such situations blue which is
known for its relaxing action as well as also
being the complementary colour of orange
will come to the rescue.
Colours and their Complementary counterpart
1. Red Green
2. Orange Indigo
3. Yellow Violet
4. Green Red
5. Blue Orange
6. Violet Yellow

Colour therapists administer the indicated

colour for a longer duration and top it up
with its complementary colour for a shorter
duration. Let us take an example of a patient
suffering from abdominal discomfort due to
worm infestation. The indicated colour for
treatment is yellow; in other words, there is
insufficiency of colour yellow in that patient;
yellow rays should be transferred to the
patient’s energy body to combat worm
infestation and hastens the patient’s
recovery. The complementary colour of
yellow is violet, therefore a colour therapist
would transfer colour yellow to the patient
for say 10 minutes and switch to violet for a
shorter duration say 3 minutes before going
again to yellow colour for another 10
minutes duration. This process can be
repeated alternately for the length of time
adjudged okay by the healer for that session.
As a general rule, a session ranges from
20 minutes to 45 minutes and every colour
healing session ends with the
complementary colour and finally also pure
white light which most colour therapists
believe potentiates the indicated colour(s).
Colour is the basis of all healing modalities.
Every substance has a specific finer colour-
radiation that determines its matrix and
activity in nature; Even in the science of
drug analysis mention is always made of
colour separation obtained by spectrometry.
The colour indicates the species and the
species determine the colour simple.

Colours and Emotions
Administration Of Colours
Colour therapists administer colours to their
clients through different means and
techniques, the major ones include;
1. Solarised water and fluids (oils, creams,
health drinks etc)
2. Coloured rays from lamps
3. Colour of foods

Solarised water
One of the most efficient ways of infusing
into the body an adequate supply of a
particular colour is through the intake of
solarised water. The method of preparing
this energized water is simple.

Method of preparation
i. The colour therapist helps you to select
the most appropriate colour for the
condition he wants to treat
ii. Obtain a glass bottle of same colour or a
transparent glass bottle with the desired
colour cellophane firmly wrapped round
the glass container
iii. Pour clean water inside the glass ware
and securely cover it to prevent dust or
other contaminants entering the bottle

iv. Place in the sun for a period of 3- 5 hrs to

charge the water with the desired colour
frequency

v. Your solarised water is ready for use and

little quantity, 30ml be sipped up to 3- 5
times daily or as may be needed or
prescribed by a colour therapist
Coloured rays from lamps
Electric coloured bulbs of desired colours
are most often utilized by colour therapists
to irradiate the concerned ailing organ or
body part. The duration of treatment and
frequency of application depends on the
severity of the illness and patient’s age.
Sometimes coloured filters are placed on
lamp heads to alter or achieve desired
colours.

Colour of foods
Different fruits, vegetables and other food
items have specific colour signature which
colour therapists believe are indications of
their healing potentials. Patients that visit
colour therapists are sometimes asked to
consume more of natural foods of a
particular colour to augment and or
complement the colour energy administered
by colour therapists. When a patient
complains of tiredness, sexual impotence for
instance it is consistent with the philosophy
of colour therapy to make that patient see
the need to consume large quantity of red-
coloured foods daily. Such foods include
watermelon, tomatoes and red pepper to
mention a few. What colour healers have
stated for centuries about the effect of food
colours on health is recently been validated
by science in the study of phytochemicals
and food colour nutrition. In their book
What Colour Is Your Diet? Heber D and
Bowerman S made interesting revelations of
colour of foods and predominant
phytochemicals connections.
Red fruits and vegetables such as tomatoes
and watermelons are rich in lycopene,
phytoene, phytofluene and vitamin E.
Green foods like cabbage, cauliflower are
rich in Folic acid, glucosinolates,
isothiocyanates and indole-3 carbinol.
Green/Yellow foods like green beans,
avocado and spinach contains large quantity
of the phytochemicals lutein and zeaxanthin.
Orange foods like carrots, mangoes,
pumpkin are rich in alpha and beta carotene
as well as beta- crytoxanthin.
Orange/ Yellow foods like tangerines,
oranges, yellow grapefruit, lemon, lime,
pineapple contain lots of vitamin C and
flavonoids.
Red-Purple foods like grapes, red wine,
plums and cherries are rich in anthocyanins,
ellagic acid and flavonoids.
White/Green foods such as garlic and onions
contain allyl sulfides.
The future is promising in this field of
research. Pretty soon foods presenting all
hues, shades and tints would be assigned
different phytochemicals, minerals, enzymes,
vitamins, healing factors etc
