FIVE ECOLOGICAL PATHS IN THE RIVER AREA OF NEIVA

A new natural attraction, Neiva offers in rural area, to own and visitors, which guarantees the practice of hiking,
sighting of fauna and flora while enjoying the landscape from the upper part of the Las Ceibas river basin when it
rushes towards the Magdalena There are 5 strategic routes defined by the Autonomous Regional Corporation of
the Alto Magdalena - CAM -, which allow the enjoyment of educational and interpretive routes around the basin,
native vegetation and wildlife.

THE ROUTES
The routes correspond to: the Coffee Route, the Cocoa Route, the Natural Reserve Route of Civil Society, the Soil
Conservation Route and the Biodiversity and Restoration Route.
These ecological trails seek to promote environmental education as a strategy to guarantee the conservation of the
region's natural resources and turn them into learning scenarios about the biodiversity of fauna, flora, natural
resources and landscaping.

This type of activity will be developed in the Natural Reserves of the Civil Society of Veraguas, Cerro Gordo, La
Laguna, Terrazas de Loma Escondida, El Rosal and the Santa Rosalía Forest Reserve, during which strategic points
with ecological, landscape and environmental potential were installed. bird watching, conservation, restoration
and productive systems for the enjoyment of visitors.
"We will articulate these activities with the Departmental and Municipal Secretariats of Tourism and the different
entities that correspond to help us promote the wealth of the basin and in this way the neivanos and tourists know
it and appropriate the river that supplies water to the neivanos, "said Javier Cardoso Gutiérrez, coordinator of the
Ceibas Project.

RIVER PARK THE CEIBAS

Park Ríver the Ceibas Neiva, between the Fifth and Seventh races of the city, On the other hand will begin the
works of creation of the round in the stretch between the mouth and the race 6W downstream, thanks to an
agreement signed between the Public Companies of Neiva and the Municipality, worth 4000 million pesos for that
purpose .

In this round, the Municipality plans to make the Neiva snacks as a tourist offer and the epicenter of tourism to the
department, within the framework of the strategy that seeks to make the capital of Huila, a city region.
In this round, tourist landscapes of the department of Huila will be recreated, giving special importance to the
Magdalena River as the road axis of the country.
 NEIVA BOTANICAL GARDEN

One of the most important processes of the Environmental portfolio of the Municipality is the recovery of the
Botanical Garden that began with the program 'Sunday at the Park' which consists of guided tours to discover the
riches of it. "We advance in the recognition of biodiversity. We have a group from the Surcolombiana University
with foresters and biologists who help us identify species of flora and fauna, as for example we made a finding of a
nest of the smallest raptors that exist in Colombia, reptiles, orchids and flora before not recognized, "explained
Gloria Amparo Gutiérrez de Olaya, leader of Neiva's environmental process.

Currently, the Mayor of Neiva has hired workers and watchmen who are responsible for the cleanliness and
protection of the place, as well as the visit of the environmental promoters of the Ministry of Environment and
Sustainable Rural Development who contribute to the revision of species and promote the activities that there they
are made.

CLEANING THE LAGOON:

The next task of the portfolio of municipal environment is the cleaning of the lagoon that is infested with aquatic
weeds that impedes the visibility of the water mirror and favors sedimentation. "We will clean one hectare of the
lagoon to eliminate algae that will cause eutrophication, which is the accumulation of organic waste, the product of
wastewater. For that reason we work jointly with Las Ceibas Empresas Públicas de Neiva to prevent them from
arriving and so the lagoon will have a good amount of water without so many vegetables, "said the leader of the
environmental process.

ECONOMIC SUPPORTS:
Thanks to the management with Ecopetrol, an important investment will come through the Federation of
Municipalities with international financing projects so that the Botanical Garden Park is an epicenter of regional
biodiversity and perform scientific analysis of it. "Two surveyors are making visits to the site to add data to the
projects that will be presented to the international community," said the head of this portfolio.
 RIVER BIG OF THE MAGDALENA

"Neiva, capital of the Magdalena River", is the city brand that will begin to be heard throughout the country and
even internationally, thanks to the achievement of important resources by the Mayor of Neiva before the National
Tourism Fund. "Today we celebrate and share with all the neivanos this good news that allows positioning the city
and its tourism brand, and generate economic development in the municipality," said the Mayor.

ecotourism and adventure that with these resources we can promote and strengthen», said the official.

The routes
• Achira Route: Consists of a tour of the Magdalena River from the La Gaitana monument to Fortalecillas.
• Natural Route: A route of 48 kilometers, which is an invitation to enjoy the misty forest of the upper part of the
Las Ceibas river basin. It includes a route of Cocoa and Coffee that shows the productive process that takes place in
the region. In addition to eco adventure project.
• Cultural Route: Tour of the main monuments of the city of historical connotation.
"We invite all the neivanos to live this day in Neiva and invite all tourists to know the region and to commit
themselves to the city, because this is economic development for all," said the secretary of Tic and Competitiveness,
