Last class we visited the Museum of Philosophy, Literature and Science of Education.

During our visit there the administrator of this place told us that this museum opened
on January 31, 1985 with the help of the professor Nemecio Cedeño Mieles and a
team of students and teachers of history and geography degree which collected and
gave archaeological objects to the museum.

In this place we could see many archeological objects that belonged to Valdivia,
Machalilla, Chorrera, Jama Coaque and Manteña cultures.

We learnt that Valdivia was the ancient culture of all these mentioned before that
appeared since 1.500 B. C. until 1.800 B. C and we observed the different objects that
these cultures made, for example some dishes, jewelries and representations of
people from their villages.

We also learnt the ways as these people were buried in big vessels and the
administrator said that some of the objects which are in that place were originals but
other ones were just imitations from the originals

On January 28 we visited Agua Blanca Museum which is located in Machalilla
National Park. In this place we find a community called Agua Blanca which is
integrated by 52 families. The small village is located 7.5 miles to the north of Puerto
Lopez and 3 miles off the main highway. The people of this community live in a very
similar way to their ancestors', which were the Manteña Culture that inhabited this
land from 800 to 1532 DC.
In the museum there are some pre-Columbian ceramics and pictures of some of
the current inhabitants with the same facial features as those found on the ceramics.
The guides are locals who proudly tell how the community survives without land
divisions among them, and how their environment has been practically unchanged for
years.

The guide took us on a walk. We could observe birds, a river valley,

arqueological areas, and a small lagoon with high levels of sulfur in the mud, which
has been used for medicinal and cosmetic purposes. We also saw the funeral urns in
situ with human bones and skeletons exactly as they were found.
